Megyn Marie Kelly is an American journalist and media personality. She was born on November 18, 1970, in the United States of America. Currently, she is the host of a talk program and podcast by the name of The Megyn Kelly program, which can be heard live every day on SiriusXM. She went on to acquire a juris doctor degree from Albany Law School in 1995. At the time, Kelly worked for the legal firm of Bickel & Brewer LLP as an associate attorney in their Chicago office. She collaborated on an article titled “The Conflicting Roles of Lawyer as Director” that was published in the autumn issue of the journal Litigation published by the American Bar Association in 1996.
After that, she spent the next nine years working at Jones Day, where one of the companies she represented was Experian, a credit agency. After moving to Washington, District of Columbia, in 2003, Kelly found work as a general assignment reporter at WJLA-TV, which is an affiliate of the ABC network. She covered both national and local events, including live coverage of the confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John G. Roberts, the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, and the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist, as well as the presidential election of 2004.
Later on, Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN, expressed his regret that he did not hire Kelly in the beginning of her career as a reporter for the network, stating that she was “the one talent you’d want to have from somewhere else.” In 2004, Kelly submitted her resume to Fox News in hopes of being hired. She had her own legal part, Kelly’s Court, during Weekend Live and contributed legal portions to Special Report with Brit Hume.
Her segments were focused on the law. She made a regular appearance on The O’Reilly Factor and occasionally filled in for Greta Van Susteren on On the Record. The majority of her reporting on On the Record was centered on issues pertaining to the law and politics. She filled in as an anchor every so often, but her primary contribution was on weekends when she filled in for other anchors. America Live, which Kelly began presenting on February 1, 2010, took over for The Live Desk, which she had hosted for the previous two hours in the afternoon.
She participated as a guest panelist on the late-night satirical program Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld that is broadcast on Fox News. America Live’s viewership rose by 20% in 2010, reaching an average of 1,293,000 viewers. Additionally, the show’s viewership rose by 4% in the 25–54 age category, reaching an average of 268,000 viewers. During the month of December in 2010, Kelly and Bill Hemmer staged a special New Year’s Eve program.
Kelly’s reporting on the outcomes of the presidential election in the United States in 2012 garnered a lot of attention from the media. After a portion of the results had been announced on election night, the decision desk at Fox News predicted that Barack Obama would win the state of Ohio as well as a second term in office.
