Born on the 28th of March in 1995, Isabelle Rezazadeh Rezz (stylized as REZZ) is the stage name of a Canadian DJ and record producer who hails from the city of Niagara Falls in the province of Ontario. OWSLA’s sub-label Nest HQ was responsible for the publication of her first EP, titled Insurrection, in the year 2015.
In 2016, she released the follow-up albums The Silence is Deafening and Something Wrong Here after signing a recording contract with the record label mau5trap. Mass Manipulation, Rezazadeh’s first album to be recorded in a studio, was released on August 4, 2017, and Certain Kind of Magic, the album that followed it, was published in 2018.
Rezazadeh was raised in Canada after relocating there when he was a little child. He was born in Ukraine to an Iranian mother and a Ukrainian father. She was employed at a Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls while she was still attending high school there.
Rezazadeh started her career as a DJ at the age of sixteen, playing the music of other artists until a concert by Deadmau5 encouraged her to start making her own music. Skrillex took note of her on a blog, and he subsequently followed her and communicated with her over Twitter after doing so. Rezazadeh began creating music on her laptop in the comfort of her own home in Niagara Falls, Ontario, in 2013.
She then published her creations on SoundCloud. On July 20, 2015, she published Insurrection through a subsidiary of Owsla called NEST. She began releasing music later that year on Deadmau5’s record label, Mau5trap, and her song “Serenity” was included on the compilation album We Are Friends, Vol. 4 in 2015.
Rezazadeh made the announcement in 2016 that her debut extended play (EP), titled The Silence is Deafening, will be published on the music label Mau5trap on January 22, 2016. This was then followed by the release of a second EP on Mau5trap later that year titled “Something Wrong Here,” which took place on October 7, 2016. In the United States, the extended play reached its highest position on the Billboard Dance Charts at number 19.
The release of Rezazadeh’s first full-length studio album, titled Mass Manipulation, was announced by Mau5trap in 2017. A music video for the song “Relax” was uploaded on Mau5trap’s YouTube account on July 7, 2017, in order to promote the release of the album. One month later, on August 4, 2017, Mass Manipulation was made available on digital download retailers. It was released on vinyl one month later, on October 6, 2017.
At the Juno Awards held in 2018, Mass Manipulation was recognized as having produced the best electronic album of the year. The title of Rezazadeh’s upcoming second studio album, Certain Kind of Magic, was revealed on June 1st, 2018. On August 3, 2018, the album was made available for purchase through Mau5trap. On June 4, 2018, the debut version of the song “Witching Hour” was made available.
The second single from the album, titled “Hex,” was created in cooperation with 1788-L and was made available for purchase on June 29, 2018. On May 14, 2019, Rezz made the announcement on Twitter that the release date for her extended play (EP), titled Beyond the Senses, will be July 24.
The following day, she distributed the single titled “Dark Age.” On June 12th, she released a song titled “Falling” which was a duet with the American band Underoath. It was accompanied by a music video that was released on the same day, as well as an online VR listening party through WaveVR. Additionally, VR Arcades around North America and also Otherworld in London took part in physical events that supported the listening party.
Underplayed, a documentary film slated to be released in 2020, will feature an interview with her, and she is scheduled to play a DJ set following the Canadian premiere of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2020. A single titled “Hypnocurrency” was released on mau5trap in 2021 as a result of a collaboration between Rezz and deadmau5.
On April 24, she gave a set at the Secret Sky virtual music event, which was hosted by Porter Robinson. On the 21st of May, Rezz and Dove Cameron came up with the song “Taste of You” together. On November 19, Rezz released her third studio album, titled Spiral. In the year 2022, she established HypnoVizion Records as a new record label.
