Hunter Hayes Bio

Hunter Easton Hayes is a multi-genre singer and songwriter from the United States. He is also a record producer and plays many instruments. Hayes was born on September 9, 1991. He is accomplished on more than thirty different instruments. 2011 saw the release of Hayes’ first album, which was simply named Hayes. Over 1.1 million copies were sold, leading to the album reaching number seven on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top Country Albums chart. Hayes became the youngest male performer to ever top the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with his hit “Wanted,” which sold over 3.5 million copies and made him the most successful track from the album. Act of Valor, a war movie released in 2012, has an original song titled “Where We Left Off” that was written by Hayes and can be heard on the film’s soundtrack.

The Flaming Lips broke a Guinness World Record that was previously held by Jay-Z for the most concerts performed in numerous cities in a period of twenty-four hours. This record was broken at the 2012 O Music Awards. At the Hattiesburg leg of their tour, Hayes served as the opening act for them. Martin Guitars announced in May 2012 that Hayes will represent C.F. Martin & Co. as the company’s newest brand ambassador. The following is a remark from Hayes on the topic, which was first published in American Songwriter: “It is an absolute honor to be named an official Martin Ambassador and to be recognized by the Martin family.” He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame on September 7, 2012, and the ceremony took place at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Due to Hayes’ commercial success as well as his ability as a composer and instrumentalist, Billboard dubbed him the leader of “Country Music’s Youth Revolution” in the year 2014. He has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, one of which is for Best New Artist, and he has won three BMI Awards in addition to the 2012 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year. Hayes is an only child; he was born on September 9, 1991, at the Larniurg Hospital in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Both of his parents, in addition to having English, Scots-Irish, and German heritage, have Cajun blood in their veins. He was raised in a Catholic household, and he sang songs in both English and French throughout his childhood.

Hayes made his stage debut when he was just 2 years old. At the age of four, he started making appearances both locally and on national television, notably on Maury, the Rosie O’Donnell program, and the Nickelodeon game program Figure It Out, on which he played “Jambalaya. According to American Songwriter, Hayes “received his first guitar from actor Robert Duvall when he was only six years old.” When he was just seven years old, he was given the opportunity to play for then-President Bill Clinton at a White House lawn party. At the age of 13, he was a contestant on America’s Most Talented Kids, which was hosted by Dave Coulier. During his appearance, he sang the classic song “Hey Good Lookin'” by Hank Williams.

On October 8, 2000, when Hunter was just 9 years old, he released his first independent studio album titled “Through My Eyes” under the labels Suagartown Records and Louisiana Red Hot Records. After that, he went on to produce a few more albums under his own label, including “Make a Wish” in 2001, “Holidays with Hunter” in 2003, “Honoring Our French Heritage” in 2006, and “Songs About Nothing” in 2008. On May 16, 2011, Hayes released his first song to radio under his own name titled “Storm Warning.” On October 11, 2011, he released his first album with a big label, which was named after himself. He was involved in the writing of every song on the album, played every instrument on it, and co-produced it with Dann Huff. The second song, titled “Wanted,” was sent to radio stations on March 5, 2012.

He made an appearance on the CBS talk show The Talk on July 24, 2012, and while there, he was presented with an RIAA Gold Certification plaque for the song “Wanted.” The RIAA granted “Wanted” the status of Platinum on August 23, 2012, a little under two months after the song was awarded gold certification.

As a result of “Wanted” being his debut song to reach No. 1, he became the youngest solo male performer to ever top the Hot Country Songs chart, breaking the record that Johnny Rodriguez had held since 1973. “Wanted” returned to the top place on the chart twenty weeks after it had initially held that position, this time doing so under a different chart structure. The third song from the album, titled “Somebody’s Heartbreak,” climbed all the way to the top of the Country Airplay chart. Hayes started performing as the opening act for Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away Tour on the 14th of September in 2012, and she did so on more than 90 dates.

At the 2013 Grammy Awards, he was also nominated for three Grammys, including one for “Best New Artist.” He is the youngest male country singer ever to be nominated in all three categories for which he was nominated. The song “I Want Crazy,” which can be found on the album’s deluxe Encore version, was broadcast for the first time on country radio on April 7, 2013, and it was a hit. In August 2013, it reached its highest position on the Country Airplay chart, which was number two. The next track, “Everybody’s Got Somebody but Me,” was a re-recording of a song that was included on the album during its first pressing. Jason Mraz contributed some guest vocals to the re-recorded version of the song. There were five country artists that competed for the CMT Artist of the Year award in 2013, and Hunter was one of them. This honor is presented once a year to a collection of country artists that have each had an exceptional year in their respective fields.

At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, Hayes gave a performance of the lead song “Invisible” from his second album. On May 6, 2014, Storyline was made available to the public. The Guinness World Record for the most concerts performed in numerous locations in 24 hours was previously held by The Flaming Lips. Hunter broke this record in an attempt to raise awareness about ending child hunger and to promote his album, which he did by breaking the record. “Tattoo” is the second single from the album, and it was released to country radio on June 16, 2014.

The Recording Industry Association of America awarded Hayes’ self-titled first album with the double platinum certification on July 20, 2014. After that, in 2015, he released another song titled “Light Me Up” which was taken from the deluxe edition of his first album. In 2008, he made the journey from Breaux Bridge to Nashville, Tennessee, where he eventually earned a contract to work as a composer for Universal Music Publishing Group. Hayes contributed to the song “Play” which appeared on the album Nothing Like This that Rascal Flatts released in 2010. In September, he was given a recording contract with Atlantic Records Nashville and immediately got to work on the album that would serve as his debut on a big label.

In the course of the summer of 2011, Hayes served as the opening act for ten stops along the Speak Now World Tour that was being headlined by country music superstar Taylor Swift. Hayes came to a close with his portion of the tour in St. Louis, Missouri. In April of 2011, he embarked on his own radio tour, during which he gave the first performances of songs that would later be included on his first album. His first headlining tour was called the Most Wanted Tour, and it started on October 8, 2011, in Beaumont, Texas, and finished on December 4, 2011, in San Bernardino, California. The first leg of the tour was named after the song “Most Wanted” by the artist.

Covering the 1984 song “Almost Paradise” by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson, which was included in the original Footloose movie, Hayes and vocalist Victoria Justice contributed a duet to the soundtrack of the Footloose remake that was released in 2011. Hayes served as the tour’s opening act for Rascal Flatts on their “Thaw Out” tour in January and February of 2012.
