Desiigner is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who was born on May 3, 1997. His debut single, “Panda,” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in December 2015. He was dropped by Def Jam in 2019 and is now a self-employed musician. Selby was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on the 3rd of May, 1997. He is the grandson of blues guitarist Sidney “Guitar Crusher” Selby, and is of Afro-Barbadian and African-American origin. In the Bedford–Stuyvesant district, he grew up in the Louis Armstrong housing projects. At school choir and church, he began to work on his vocals. He started his musical career at the age of 14.

Desiigner and three other people were arrested in New York City on September 8, 2016, after a 911 caller said they had a gun drawn on them. Desiigner was subsequently discovered with four other people in an SUV, which was searched. He and the other people were charged with drug and firearm possession after police allegedly discovered oxycodone and weapons. All of them were taken into custody. He was found not guilty of felony firearms charges on September 10, 2016. When it was discovered that the pills were anabolic steroids belonging to his driver, he was absolved of the charges on September 12, 2016.

On November 7, 2017, it was announced that BTS would release a remix of their song “Mic Drop,” which would include Desiigner and be remixed by Steve Aoki.
