Davido Adeleke was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents welcomed him as their third and final kid. Adewale Adedeji is his oldest sibling, and he also has two sisters, Sharon Coco, and Ashley Coco. In March 2003, he lost his mother. His dad runs Pacific Holdings and is also the president and founder of “Adeleke University.” Davido and his siblings all have director positions at their father’s business.
The British International School, Lagos is where Davido received his education. At age 11, he started writing songs. His mother, from whom he claims to have acquired an interest in performing for others, is the person he credits as motivating him to pursue music. He enrolled at Oakwood University in Alabama with the intent of majoring in business. While he was in college, he discovered a passion for music. Afterward, he quit pursuing music full-time. He was a member of the college band KB International. Davido, whose given name is David Adedeji Adeleke, is a musician who was born in the United States but now calls Nigeria home.
With the release of his second track, “Dami Duro,” he shot to fame. His first record, “Back Then,” had already made him a household name. He was born in Atlanta and went to high school and college in Lagos, Nigeria, before enrolling at “Oakwood University” in Alabama. He dropped out of school to pursue music full-time, and he was a member of the band KB International. In 2011, he moved back to Nigeria and quickly began releasing singles.
His father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, suggested he study music at “Babcock University,” so he did. His first record, titled “Omo Baba Olowo,” earned him a number of nominations and even a few wins. Hits like “Gobe,” “One of a Kind,” “Skelewu,” “If,” and “Fall” are among his many accomplishments as a recording artist. Davido contributed to the song that was made to promote the “Africa Rising” movement. The multi-talented musician has worked with Skales, Tiwa Savage, Naeto C, and Sauce Kid, among many others, and is a co-owner of the record label HKN Records. The musician is the proud parent of two young ladies.
Davido started making music in 2011 before he had even finished high school. His debut album, titled Omo Baba Olowo, featured the lead single “Back Then,” which was released on May 7, 2011. Including Naeto C, it skyrocketed to success.
The release of his second single, “Dami Duro,” in October 2011 catapulted him to fame. The accompanying music video for this single, which debuted in January 2012, was similarly well-received. Davido’s first album came out in 2012, and it ended up taking home two prizes at “The Headies 2013”: “Best R&B/Pop Album” and “Hip Hop Global Breakthrough of the Year.” The album was also up for “Album of the Year” honors. At the 2013 “Nigeria Entertainment Awards,” it was up for “Best Album of the Year.” His 2012 singles “Overseas” and “All of You” were both well received. For the ‘Africa Rising’ initiative, Davido collaborated with artists Lola Rae, Mi Casa, Tiwa Savage, and Diamond Platnumz in June of 2014. He had hoped it would inspire his people to join a social investment initiative.
Davido has partnered with mobile companies MTN and Infinix Mobile through endorsement deals. It was announced that he had signed with “Guinness Nigeria” and would be performing at the “Guinness World of More” concert. He joined “Sony Music” in 2016 after signing a recording contract with the label. After this, he started his own record label called DMW. He signed with Sony subsidiary RCA Records and dropped an EP titled “Son of Mercy” that same year. Singles like “How Long,” “Gbagbe Oshi,” and “Coolest Child in Africa” were among the five on the EP. He renegotiated his deal with ‘Sony Music’ because of some concerns over creative control, he said later.
Both of 2017’s songs by Davido, “If” and “Fall,” were huge successes, with “Fall” breaking records as the most successful Nigerian pop song to ever rank on the “Billboard” Hot 100. He embarked on a concert tour of the United States in the latter half of 2018 and played shows and concerts in a number of different places.
