Junius ZillaKami is the stage name under which Donald Rogers, an American rapper, singer, and composer, performs professionally. As well as being a member of the hip-hop group City Morgue, he used to write songs for the rapper 6ix9ine. Publications such as HotNewHipHop have cited him as an early innovator of the genre known as trap metal. Rogers is the Chief Executive Officer of the skate gear and equipment firm Dog Years Skate Club. Rogers was born in the city of Bay Shore in the state of New York.
When Rogers was in his teens, he and a few of his buddies from school came up with the name Scud Got Quayle and created a punk rock band. The band was heavily influenced by the music of Gorilla Biscuits. He got his start in the hip-hop music industry by doing some ghostwriting for a local New York rapper named 6ix9ine. During this time period, he wrote a song in which he planned to feature two different vocalists. In response, 6ix9ine told him that he should feature on the track, which would eventually be released under the name “Yokai.”
The two of them then released another collaborative track together titled “Hellsing Station.” Rogers posted a photo of 6ix9ine engaged in a sexual act with a girl that he claimed was thirteen, and it brought to light his earlier guilty plea to exploit a kid in a sexual performance. After releasing a number of singles in the preceding couple of years, they finally came out with their first extended play (EP) as a group under the title “Be Patient” in August of 2018.
On September 5, 2018, he was featured on the tune “Vengeance” from Denzel Curry’s third album Ta13oo, which also included JPEGMafia.This was followed, in the same month, by a feature on Lil Gnar’s track “Man Down”. Soon after the release of City Morgue’s debut album “City Morgue Vol 1: Hell or High Water” on October 12, 2018, the band’s headline tour in promotion of the album reached capacity quickly and was completely sold out.
In the song “Please Forgive” by Powers Pleasant, which was released on November 29, 2018, he was one of the guests, along with Jay IDK, Zombie Juice, and Denzel Curry. Along with Turnstile, Denzel Curry, Trash Talk, Pouya, Germ, Shoreline Mafia, and Night Lovell, he participated in the Suicideboys’ Grey Day tour from July 24 through August 23 as a member of City Morgue. The band City Morgue released their second studio album, titled City Morgue Vol. 2: As Good as Dead, on December 13, 2019. Toxic Boogaloo, the mixtape that City Morgue created, was made available for download on July 31, 2020. The third studio album by City Morgue was titled Bottom of the Barrel and was released on October 15, 2021, by the band City Morgue. Rogers issued his first solo album under his own name, titled Dog Boy, on September 17, 2021. It has been said that ZillaKami’s music combines aspects of hardcore punk and heavy metal with trap music.
