Tyreek Hill is a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on March 1, 1994, and now plays for the team. During the 2016 NFL Draft, Hill was taken by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of selections. He started his college football career at Garden City Community College before transferring to Oklahoma State and then West Alabama.
As a rookie, Hill’s primary role was as a return specialist; however, he has since moved to play wide receiver exclusively. Following his first year in the league, he was given the moniker “Cheetah” because of his lightning-quick pace. He has been named to the Pro Bowl after each of his seven seasons in the league, he won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs, and he was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team as a punt returner.
All of these accomplishments came during the decade of the 2010s. Hill is a native of Douglas, Georgia, and he received his education at Coffee High School, where he won the state championship in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters at the 2012 Georgia 5A tournament. At the 36th Golden South Classic, which took place on May 26, 2012, in Orlando, Florida, Hill raced a new season-best in the 100 meters with a time of 10.19 seconds and a personal record in the 200 meters with a time of 20.14 seconds.
His time in the 200 meters came in just one-hundredth of a second shy of breaking the national high school record set by Roy Martin in 1985. Hill’s mark was the quickest time by a junior athlete in the 2012 season, and it was the fastest time by a junior athlete since Ramil Guliyev’s 20.04 s in 2009. Ramil Guliyev set the previous record for a junior athlete with a time of 20.04 s in 2009.
His time in the 100 meters is tied for second place with Abraham Hall’s time from the 2012 season, with only Adam Gemili being faster than a junior. In 2012, he was named the “High School Athlete of the Year” by Track and Field News. At the 2013 Hutchinson NJCCA Championships, Hill finished the 100-meter dash in 9.98 seconds with a wind speed of +5.0 meters per second.
Hill was chosen for inclusion on the USA Today All-American track and field team in 2012. Hill participated in both the track & field and football programs at Garden City Community College. In 2013, while playing for the Broncbusters football club, Hill rushed for 659 yards and scored five touchdowns. In addition, he caught 67 passes for 532 receiving yards. Hill was a highly sought-after junior college recruit when he graduated from Garden City Community College, and he ultimately made the decision to enroll at Oklahoma State University.
In his first game with the Cowboys, which took place on August 30, 2014, Hill caught a season-high six catches for 62 receiving yards, despite the team’s defeat at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles. Against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on September 25, 2014, he made his first career touchdown catch and completed the game with three receptions for 50 yards, six rushing attempts for 39 yards, and three kick returns for a total of 62 yards.
He also scored his first touchdown in his first career game. In the game that followed, which was played against the Iowa State Cyclones, Hill finished with a season-high 148 kick-return yards on five tries. He also returned his first kick return for a touchdown of the season in that game. In the game against the Kansas State Wildcats that took place on November 1, 2014, he set a new personal best with 102 running yards on 18 carries and scored his first rushing touchdown of the season.
On December 6, 2014, he made his final appearance as a member of the Oklahoma State football team and helped them win a comeback victory over its rival Oklahoma Sooners after he returned a punt for a 92-yard touchdown. This was his last game as a member of the Oklahoma State football team. Due to Hill’s arrest for domestic violence a few days earlier, Oklahoma State decided to dismiss him from the football and track teams on December 11, 2014, effective immediately.
Hill had a total of 102 rushing attempts, 534 rushing yards, and one score during his lone season at Oklahoma State. He also had 31 receptions for 381 receiving yards and one touchdown, 30 kick returns for 740 return yards and two touchdowns, and 27 punt returns for 256 punt return yards and one touchdown. He recorded six touchdowns and contributed to 1,811 all-purpose yards while playing the positions of running back, wide receiver, and returner.
His combined return yards of 996 placed him in second place in the country. In total yards, he finished the season ranked 11th in the country. The University of West Alabama made the announcement that Hill had enrolled in the school and will be playing football for the Tigers on September 1, 2015.
The head coach of West Alabama, Brett Gilliland, has revealed that he initially turned down Hill after reading the police report detailing how he choked and punched his fiancée. Hill was one of the players being considered for the position. On the other hand, after he had gotten to know Hill on a personal level, he decided to talk to people at Oklahoma State, Hill’s old coaches at Garden City Community College, and a high school mentor. A provision of the plea deal that compelled Hill to either attend school full-time or maintain employment was another factor that impacted his decision.
Hill was utilized on the field in a very balanced manner as a running back (25 carries for 237 yards and one touchdown), wide receiver (27 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown), punt returner (20 returns averaging 10.7 yards with two touchdowns), and kick returner (20 returns also averaging 23.0 yards with two touchdowns). On the field, Hill’s statistics were as follows: 25 carries for 237 yards and one touchdown; 27 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown.
In the 11 games that he played for the club, he never rushed for more than 100 yards or caught more than 100 yards, and he averaged 135 all-purpose yards up until Game 8 when he had a burst of 307 all-purpose yards versus Delta State. After this, his performance dropped off significantly, reaching a season-ending total of minus three yards for all purposes in the game against the North Alabama Lions.
