When he was born on April 30th, 1992, in Houston, Texas, Travis Scott’s given name was Jacques Webster. His early years were spent in Missouri City, where he lived with his grandmother. Later, he followed his father to the suburbs. Before coming to Elkins High School, he attended a private school. After completing his high school education there in 2007, he applied to and was accepted to UT San Antonio. Scott left college during his second year to focus on his music career. His parents, out of anger, eventually stopped providing for him. American singer, songwriter, and rapper Travis Scott. He entered the public eye in 2012 after signing his first major label deal with Epic Records. His given name is Jacques Webster.
In 2012, he appeared on the label’s commemorative compilation, Cruel Summer. Scott also inked a deal with T.I.’s Grand Hustle label in April 2013. His first full-length mixtape, titled “Owl Pharaoh,” was released the same year as his breakthrough year in the music industry. With the release of his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo, in August 2014, Scott’s career as a rapper and singer took off. His album Rodeo spawned the hit single “Antidote,” but it was this song that truly launched his career. It was his first single to crack the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it was a huge success.
Travis Scott left college to pursue a music career in New York City after he dropped out. At first, he set his sights on a career in music production, specifically hip-hop. When he was in New York, he frequently dropped by the Just Blaze studio. He formed a band called “The Graduates” with his longtime friend Chris Holloway. The next year, in 2009, they released their debut EP on MySpace.
He and his fellow high school alum OG Chess started a band called “The Classmates” in 2009. The Classmates dropped a pair of albums in 2009 and 2010. One was with Buddy Rich and the other was with Cruis’n USA. Scott’s focus in both projects was on the production side of things. They were together until 2012 when issues with money and relationships caused them to split up.
Professionally and personally, Travis Scott hit rock bottom for a little while. His music career wasn’t going anywhere significant, and he had trouble making ends meet because of it. He went from California to Texas and back to California. Scott’s production “Lights Love Sick” happened to catch the ear of TI of Grand Hustle Record, who promptly signed Scott to a contract. Scott’s first extended work was a mixtape released under the name “Owl Pharaoh.” Unfortunately, the project’s release was delayed, prompting Kanye West and Mike Dean to remake it. Scott, meanwhile, dropped a new song called “Blocka La Flame,” a remix of Pusha T’s “Blocka” from the same GOOD Music label.
The song “Quintana,” which was written for “Owl Pharaoh,” was featured in a music video directed by Scott and published in March 2013. Scott joined XXL’s 2013 Freshman Class at this time. Travis Scott’s first commercially available single, “Upper Echelon,” was previewed at the end of March 2013. After much delay, Urban Contemporary Radio received the track, and it is now available for free download.
Scott wrote “Don’t Play” in July 2014, months before releasing his debut studio album for a big label, Days Before Rodeo. The song became very popular. This achievement prompted Scott to announce a concert tour called “The Rodeo Tour” alongside rapper Young Thug of the Rich Gang and producer Metro Boomin. The tour began in Santa Ana, California, on March 1, 2015, and concluded one month later in Portland, Oregon.
Travis Scott became a household name overnight because of the success of the Rodeo Tour. Famous musicians like Kanye West, Chris Brown, Wale, and Birdman all made appearances at different points throughout the tour’s many stops in cities like Denver, Houston, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. Some have called it the craziest rap tour ever. The long-awaited studio album “Rodeo” by Scott was finally released in September 2015. Performers from all around the music industry made cameos. The album was a huge success, entering the US Billboard 200 at position #3. When it comes to rap albums, ‘Rodeo’ scored a perfect first place on the Billboard chart.
Both “3500” and “Antidote” were released as singles from his album “Rodeo.” ‘3500’ was a successful album, but it was ‘Antidote’ that really launched his career. It eventually reached number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest-charting single of all time. Scott revealed the titles “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” and “AstroWorld” for his upcoming second and third albums in the middle of 2016. On the third episode of.wav radio, which aired in September 2016, he announced the premiere of his second album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight. He then made the record available for download on Apple platforms. Scott’s album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 on that date. He signed with Universal Music Publishing Group the following day.
Scott gave a performance at All-Star Weekend in Champion Square, New Orleans, in February 2017. A month later, in March, he played at the BUKU Music + Art Project festival in New Orleans. At the same time, he gave the go-ahead for his next “Birds Eye View” concert tour, which stopped in places including New Orleans, Louisiana, and Eugene, Oregon. Beginning on June 23, the European portion of the tour ran all the way until July 9.
