Veronicas is a musical duet from Brisbane, Australia, who hails from Australia. It was in 2004 that Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, identical twin sisters, came together to start the group. The Secret Life of… was the Veronicas’ first studio album, released in 2005. It reached its highest position on the Australian Album Chart at number two, and it was awarded a platinum certification by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for having sold more than 280,000 copies.
“4ever” was the most successful of the album’s five singles, three of which reached the top 10 on the singles chart in Australia. In 2001, the identical twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso collaborated with the Brisbane producer Stuart Stuart at Analog Heart Records to create their first demonstration recordings.

Smith was a former operatic tenor who had performed in other countries with the Sadler’s Wells Opera and at the Sydney Opera House with the Australian Opera. He was also the owner of the recording and music publishing firm Multiplay Music Australia. Multiplay Music Australia offered to sign The Twins to their first recording and music publishing agreements after they had the opportunity to meet Joseph and audition for Lisa and Jessica.
The following year, after signing the Twins, Smith and Bell, with funding from Multiplay Music Australia, took the Twins on several songwriting trips worldwide. These trips included visits to the United States of America, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. These trips aimed to allow the Twins to work with the most talented songwriters in each of these countries.
Among them were Clif Magness, who has collaborated with Avril Lavigne on songwriting; Billy Steinberg, who has worked with Madonna and Cyndi Lauper; Max Martin, who has worked with Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and P! nk; Eric Nova, Dead Mono, and Vince DeGiorgio, and together they produced a repertoire of more than fifty songs. Additionally, Multiplay secured introductions and auditions with severalording firms, such as Sony, EMI, Universal, BMG, and Warner Music.
When Smith and Bell arrived in Australia, they met with the management at Engine Room, a PBL (Packer) Group subsidiary. Multiplay then negotiated with Engine Room during the year to gain recording contracts with Warner Music for the Twins. Following that, meetings were scheduled with Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The fact that Smith and Bell had found and cultivated Seymour Stein and other top executives recognized a musical ability.
After becoming aware of the organization, Archie Comics initiated legal proceedings against them for trademark infringement regarding the well-known character Veronica Lodge, who is also recognized as a female character with an attitude. These proceedings aimed to prevent the group from utilizing the name. A request had been made by Archie Comics to Warner Music Group to transfer all publicity rights and to compensate them for damages amounting to $200 million.
