William Curtis Harness Jr., better known by his stage name Struggle Jennings, was born on May 31, 1980, and is an American rapper who hails from the city of Nashville, Tennessee. He is the grandson of instrumental rock guitarist Duane Eddy and country performer Jessi Colter, as well as the step-grandson of Waylon Jennings and the nephew of Shooter Jennings, after whom Harness took his stage name. Jennings is also the step-grandfather of Harness. Alongside Bubba Sparxxx, Jennings was one of the first artists to sign to Yelawolf’s Slumerican label roster.
In 2011, Harness served time in prison for drug-related offenses that got him arrested. In 2013, he had an appearance on Yelawolf’s mixtape Wyte Dawg and also published his album I Am Struggle, which consists of nine tracks. Return of the Outlaw was an EP that was released by Harness via Slumerican shortly after his release from prison in the year 2016.
Between 2017 and 2018, he worked on a trilogy of albums titled Waylon & Willie with his old buddy and fellow rapper JellyRoll. The albums’ titles are a nod to country music legends Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. At the tail end of 2018, Struggle and his mother, Jenni Eddy Jennings, collaborated on the creation of an EP titled Spiritual Warfare.
Sunny Days is the name of a joint EP that was published on January 15, 2019, by Struggle and his oldest daughter, singer Brianna Harness. The EP landed at position number three on the Billboard Blues Albums list. Additionally, he released his first solo studio album in 2011 on his own label called “Angels & Outlaws,” which he established in the same year as the album’s release. This album was published in February 2019.
The long-playing record was titled The Widow’s Son, and it featured cameos by artists like as Bubba Sparxxx, Jeremy Penick, Julie Roberts, Alexander King, and Yelawolf. Angels & Outlaws is a full-length album that was released by Jennings on November 15, 2019. It was a collaborative effort between Jennings, his guitarist Trap DeVille, and Jennings’ daughter, Brianna Harness, a rookie in the music industry. The album contains 11 tracks. The album reached its highest position on the Alternative rankings on iTunes at number eight.
Fans were pleasantly pleased by the long-awaited release of “Waylon & Willie IV” in December 2020, which was the fourth record in the collaborative series between Struggle and his fellow Nashville native, Jelly Roll. In June 2020, Jennings teamed up with Adam Calhoun on the EP “Legends,” and in December 2020, “Legends” was released. On April 9, 2021, Jennings released an album under his own name titled “Troubadour of Troubled Souls.”
On April 30, 2021, he released a second collaborative album with Illinois rapper Adam Calhoun titled “Outlaw Shit.” This album rose to prominence on the iTunes Rap Charts by capturing the number one slot on the day it was made available to the public. In the year 2021, Jennings can be seen touring and working with the musicians Brianna Harness and Caitlynne Curtis to build their independent careers via the record label “Angels & Outlaws” which is situated in Nashville.
Jennings and Tommy Vext, a heavy metal vocalist, made the announcement in September 2021 that they would be co-headlining a tour called “The God Bless the Outlaws” across the United States. The tour was notable for being the only one of its kind in the United States to not demand confirmation of having received the COVID-19 vaccine or to wear face masks. During the year 2022, Jennings worked with independent rapper Tom MacDonald and Nova Rockafeller to create a feature for the song “In God We Trust,” which was included on Tom MacDonald’s album “The Brave.”The musician, who was born Will Harness, began performing under the stage name “Struggle Jennings” when he began rapping.
Early recordings by Jennings were frequently constructed around samples of songs performed by Jennings’ grandpa. These samples were paired with creepy hip-hop beats to serve as a backdrop for Jennings’ aggressive and street-minded rhymes. Harness was arrested on drug-related charges and sent to jail in 2011, just as he was beginning his career and making relationships with other prominent figures in the hip-hop industry, like Yelawolf.
His concentration on his music became even more intense while he was behind bars. During the duration of his five-year term, Struggle saw the publication of his debut album, I Am Struggle, in 2013. He also had video footage filmed in jail, which resulted in a video for his single “Black Curtains,” as well as a documentary that detailed his odd and twisted story. Both of these projects were completed while he was serving his sentence.
Return of the Outlaw was an extended play (EP) that was released by him not long after his release from prison in early 2016. After that, he worked with the rapper Jelly Roll on three albums that were all connected to one another and were published in 2017 and 2018. These albums were titled Waylon & Willie, Waylon & Willie 2, and Waylon & Willie 3, respectively. In 2019, Angels & Outlaws released the studio album titled The Widow’s Son, which featured guest appearances by a variety of artists such as Bubba Sparxxx, Jeremy Penick, Yelawolf, and others.
Following the release of the fourth volume of Waylon & Willie, Jennings collaborated with fellow country/hip-hop vocalist Adam Calhoun on the EP Legend, which was released in 2020. Troubadour of Troubled Souls was his third solo album, and it was released in 2021. Later the same year, another album that he collaborated on with Adam Calhoun, Outlaw Shxt, was published.
Rapper Struggle Jennings is a performer who was born in Nashville. The outlaw sound of his grandpa, country icon Waylon Jennings, as well as modern hip-hop, rock, and country traditions are all sources of influence for Struggle Jennings’ music. Jennings, who is a member of Yelawolf’s crew, attracted the attention of the public for the first time with his debut album, titled I Am Struggle, in 2013. Collaborations with Jelly Roll and Adam Calhoun, as well as solo works such as The Widow’s Son (2019) and Troubadour of Troubled Souls (2021), contributed to his breakthrough into the mainstream music scene.
