Shannon Farnon Bio

Shannon Farnon is a Canadian-born American actress who was born on November 28th, 1941 in the United States. Between the years 1973 and 1983, she provided the voice of Wonder Woman in the animated series Super Friends, making her the first actress to ever portray the character in a Hanna-Barbera production. She is the daughter of Brian Farnon, who was born into a family rich in the entertainment industry.

As well as Rita Oehmen, who is a singer and actor, she is also the sister of Charmian Carr and Darleen Carr. They are also musicians and conductors. The city of Chicago, Illinois, was her birthplace. After completing his studies in Theatre Arts in Los Angeles, Farnon went on to work in a variety of fields within the entertainment industry as a result of his experience. It was in 1962 that she received her degree from Los Angeles Valley College.

There were films, television shows, advertisements, and cartoons in which Farnon appeared. Her first part, however, came in 1965, and it was an uncredited one on the television show Burke’s Law. In the years that followed, she made appearances in several different television programs, but her most notable work was in advertisements. In the year 1967, she made an appearance in an episode of I Dream of Jeannie, playing the role of Major Nelson’s date. Jeannie chose her date via the use of a “computer machine” at a dating club. In March of 1970, she made another appearance.

It was in an episode of Dragnet titled “Night School” when she played the role of a fellow student who was attending a college course with Joe Friday, who was portrayed by Jack Webb, the creator, producer, and star of the program. Wally Burr, the voice director, contacted her in 1973 when she was performing the character of a mother in a live-action ad for Flintstone vitamins. He wanted her to try out for the role of Wonder Woman on Super Friends, which would go on to become her most famous ever.

Between the years 1973 and 1983, Farnon provided the voice of the Amazonian superheroine on several different animated series, including Super Friends, Challenge of the Superfriends, The All-New Super Friends Hour, The World’s Greatest Super Friends, and the revival of Super Friends. even though Farnon provided the voice for some ancillary characters, including Lois Lane and Hawkgirl on a few of the episodes, and she also portrayed Kim Butler in Valley of the Dinosaurs in 1974, she is most known for providing the voice of Wonder Woman.

Mrs. Robinson appeared as a guest on the television program Emergency! (1977 Season 6 Episode 21 “Limelight”) in the role of another character. On the other hand, in 1984, her significant part was replaced in Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show. Constance Caulfield was first cast in the position, and B.J. Ward was eventually cast in the role. It is common practice to cite this particular event as an example of unfairness in the television and animation business. In a particular episode of Superman, Mary McDonald-Lewis provided the voice of Wonder Woman.

After providing her voice for Wonder Woman in several commercials shown on Cartoon Network, she went on to make cameos in many films and television programs. However, since 2005, she has not made many appearances in the acting world. She has provided her voice for several ads, such as those for Betty Crocker, Nivea, Kodak, the National World War II Memorial, Oil of Olay, Scotchgard, and spoofs of The Super Friends on Cartoon Network.

Jeremy and Julie Wells, who were born in 1971, were her children from her marriage to William Wells, which lasted from 1966 to 1975. She went on to marry again after that. A skiing accident claimed the life of Jeremy, who was 24 years old. For those who are devoted followers of the now-iconic “Super Friends” animation cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera and its following iterations, which, in 1973, became the first television series to routinely feature Wonder Woman with her fellow Justice League members.

She offered her powerful, resolute, yet sympathetic voice to the superheroine two years before Carter added her version to the mix with the live-action primetime “Wonder Woman” series. The Amazing Amazon sounds a lot like actress Shannon Farnon, who provided her voice to the superheroine.

A busy performer in film, television and advertising throughout her still-active career (her TV resume alone is filled with episodes of classic fare, including “My Favorite Martian,” “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “Quincy,” “Dallas” and “The Love Boat”), Farnon — who voiced Wonder Woman for nearly a decade — has recently been meeting her longtime fans at conventions and appearances and letting them put a face to that distinctive voice.
