Richard Hammond, an English journalist, is best known for his role as a host on the popular BBC program Top Gear. In 2002, Richard joined Jeremy Clarkson and Jason Dawe as hosts of an updated edition of the popular automobile show Top Gear. The tech-enthusiast dove headfirst into his new career, and he quickly established himself as an expert interviewer, driver, and stuntman.

According to legends, Hammond sought to break the record for the fastest land vehicle while driving a Vampire jet car at 464 km/h. Due to the front right tire blowing out, the automobile spread and tipped over just before paying.
As a result of his fall, Richard suffered broken eyeglasses and a concussion. That is why he was flown to a Leeds hospital in a helicopter ambulance.
