Bio

Mike Posner, whose real name is Michael Robert Henrion Posner and who was born in the United States on February 12, 1988, is a singer-songwriter, poet, and record producer who has been nominated for a Grammy. On August 10, 2010, Posner released his first studio album, which was titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff. The track “Cooler than Me,” which peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Please Don’t Go,” which peaked at number 20, are both included on the album. At Night, Alone was his second studio album, which he published in 2016. A reworked version of his single “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” which was released in 2015 and was taken from the album, peaked in the top ten of the charts in 27 countries around the world, including reaching number one in many of those countries and placing in the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

A huge number of other musicians have asked him to write songs for them. Tear Drops & Balloons was the title of his first collection of poetry, which was published by him in March of 2017. Alongside fellow musician Matthew Musto, Posner is one-half of the alternative hip-hop and R&B combo known as Mansionz. Posner began his journey to walk across the continental United States on April 15, 2019, beginning in New Jersey and ending in California. After being bitten by a rattlesnake in August 2019 in Colorado, he managed to finish the trek on October 18, 2019. Michael Posner was born on February 12th, 1988 in the city of Detroit, which is located in the state of Michigan.

He spent his childhood years in Southfield, Michigan, which is located in the northern suburbs of Detroit. There is a sister in the family who is six years older than he is. His mother was raised in the Catholic faith, while his father was Jewish. Posner attended Bingham Farms Elementary School and Groves High School, where he was a member of the varsity track and cross-country teams. He went on to graduate from Groves High School. He received his education at Duke University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology as well as a certificate in markets and management, and he had an overall grade point average of 3.59.

His mother is Roberta Henrion, and his sister, Emily Henrion Posner, is a civil rights attorney. Posner’s father, M. Jon Posner, was a criminal defense lawyer who passed away on January 11, 2017. Posner’s mother is Roberta Henrion. Posner began his career in the music industry as a record producer, collaborating with his childhood buddy Big Sean on many tunes. Big Sean’s debut mixtape was called “Smoke & Drive,” and Posner was a contributor to the song as well as the producer. The music business began to take notice of Posner in 2009 with the release of his second mixtape, titled A Matter of Time. Prior to that, Posner had released the mixtape titled Reflections of a Lost Teen. The mixtape was produced with the assistance of Don Cannon and DJ Benzi and distributed by Small Town Records at Duke University on February 28, 2009, under the moniker “Mike Posner & the Brain Trust.” The term “Brain Trust” refers to Posner’s followers.

The release was unique in that it was made available without charge via iTunes U, a platform that is specifically created for the distribution of instructional audio material. Posner was not the only artist to take advantage of this loophole; however, his release was the most organized and high profile, and it attracted the largest response, immediately reaching the number one position on the iTunes U chart. Despite the fact that Posner was not the only artist to take advantage of this loophole, he was the only one to take advantage of it. After completing his junior year at Duke University, Posner went on to acquire a recording contract with J Records (RCA/Sony) in July of 2009.

He made the decision to go back to Duke after signing with the label, and he began touring on the weekends while also making his first album. One Foot Out the Door, Posner’s third mixtape, was made available for download on October 28, 2009. The mixtape was backed by a web series with the same name that ran from September till December and was broadcasted every other week. The first album published by Posner, titled 31 Minutes to Takeoff, was out in August of 2010. The first song, titled “Cooler Than Me,” peaked at position number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

He had performances at the Bonnaroo music festival as well as on the Warped Tour in 2010. On the Billboard Hot 100, the band’s second and third songs, “Please Don’t Go” and “Bow Chicka Wow Wow,” respectively peaked in the top 20 and top 30 of the chart. The later version was distributed with a new verse contributed by the artist Lil Wayne. The song “Cooler Than Me” written by Posner earned him an ASCAP Award from the publishing group in 2011. J Records, Arista Records, and Jive Records were all dropped as divisions of RCA Music Group in an official announcement made on October 7th, 2011.

As a result of the closure, Posner (along with all other artists who had previously been signed to these three companies) will now release his upcoming songs under the RCA Records banner. After the success of his first studio album, he immediately started working on his second studio album, which would eventually be given the title Sky High. On December 2, 2011, he distributed the song “Looks Like Sex” to digital retailers. Posner has just published his fourth mixtape, which is titled “The Layover,” as a precursor to the release of the album. However, as a result of the popularity of his debut album, Posner suffered from depression and became uncomfortable with being in the limelight. He took a hiatus from creating his own music in order to compose and produce songs for other musicians. Later, Posner revealed on Twitter that the title of his new album would be Pages and that it will be released either around the beginning of June or towards the end of Summer 2013.

On June 11, 2013, his track “The Way It Used To Be” made its debut on digital distribution platforms. It was revealed in September 2013 that he had recorded a music video for his new track “Top of the World,” which would be on his forthcoming Page 1 EP, which is scheduled to be released in October. The release date for the EP is October. The song was first used for a marketing campaign that was run by Reebok, and a unique remix of it was then made available for free download under the title “Tapada World.” The music video was shown on December 19, 2013, and the song with Big Sean was made available for purchase on December 17. Posner made the announcement of his Unplugged tour on March 4, 2014.

The tour featured music new and old from Posner’s discography, including some new material from Pages. In addition, fans were given the opportunity to learn new information from him through the use of stories and question and answer sessions that were interspersed between the musical performances. The tour ran for seven dates in the major markets of the United States. The unplugged concerts consisted mostly of Posner performing on a variety of acoustic instruments, with the exception of the possibility of live production on “a song or two.” According to Posner, this is similar to how much of his music gets its start.

The tour was kicked off by Posner on March 31 at the World Cafe in Philadelphia, and it came to a close on April 10 at The Mint in Los Angeles. A hometown gig in Posner’s hometown of Detroit was also part of the run of dates. According to Posner, this was his first show in his hometown in close to two years. During an interview with Billboard, Mike said that he had just acquired a recording contract with Island Records and that another project would be taking the place of Pages. He also said that he would want to release his recordings from Sky High and Pages to the public for everyone to hear.
