Meek Mill’s birth on June 6, 1987, to Kathy Williams and her spouse, Robert Rihmeek Williams, took place in south Philadelphia. Nasheema Williams is Meek’s sister. When he was five years old, he lost his father, and the death left a deep emotional scar, as well as a financial one.
Meek and his mother and sister relocated to North Philly after his father’s death with the hope of a fresh start.
As a child, Meek was a modest and reserved boy who watched his mother endure many struggles to provide for the family. Yet he developed a close relationship with his father’s close buddy, a famous DJ in Philadelphia’s underground music scene. Meek accompanied him frequently, and the adrenaline rushes the music gave him inspired him to consider a career in music.
Mills started participating in underground rap battles and writing rhymes in his spare time. He and his two closest buddies established The Bloodhounds and kept their musical dreams alive by recording and burning CDs of their original music. American hip-hop recording artist Robert Rihmeek Williams, better known as Meek Mill, got his start in the industry through rap battles and has since become one of the most successful and well-known artists in the industry.
Meek’s early career success may be traced back to his rap group, The Bloodhound, which gained widespread popularity in American rap battle circles. Mill’s first big break came in 2008 when he signed a deal for his first track with Atlanta rapper T.I. Meek Mill has gone through various record labels throughout his career, searching for the greatest environment and the most leeway to express his artistic vision. Meek Mill’s debut studio album, Dreams, and Nightmares was released on Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group and served as a showcase for his immense skill. Shortly thereafter, Meek Mill released his second studio album, Young and Gettin’ It, which shot straight to the top of the charts. He has entered the music industry with his own record company, Dream Chasers Records, through which he promotes up-and-coming artists.
Meek Mills quickly rose to fame thanks to his rap battle background, attracting the attention of numerous established musicians. Meek’s solo mixtapes The Real Me, The Real Me 2, and Flames were influential to many, including T.I. T.I., the head of Grand Hustle Records, approached meekly about becoming the face of his upcoming mixtape, “Flamers 2: Hottest in Tha City.” But, the two rappers’ separate legal problems prevented the partnership from taking off right away.
When Meek got over the hearings and charges, he had his first major hit with the albums Flamer 2.5: The Preview and Flamer 3: The Wait is Done. Make ’em Say and Rose Red, in particular, were huge hits and helped increase Mills’s fan base.
Rick Ross, a major player in the American rap scene, discovered Meek through his mixtapes and signed him to his label, Maybach Music Group. Through this partnership, Meek was able to release the singles “Ima Boss” and “Tupac Back” off the album “Self Made Vol. 1,” which was produced by Rick Ross. Meek appeared on the album a total of nine times, and he got even more exposure on the follow-ups, ‘Self Made Vol. 2’ and ‘Self Made Vol. 3,’ proving his brilliance.
As a result of this, in 2012, Meek released his first studio album, titled “Dreams and Nightmares,” which was first met with muted critical acclaim but went on to acquire the Gold certification three years later.
In 2015, he released an album named “Dreams Worth More than Money,” which went on to sell 246,000 copies in its first week of release. With the introduction of ‘Dreamchasers 4.5,’ Meek returned to the mixtape scene in October 2016, releasing ‘Dreamchasers 4’. Fans were very supportive after Meek released his single “Dreams and Nightmares,” but a local priest in Philadelphia claimed that the album’s track “Amen” portrayed religion negatively. Meek later explained that the song was written at the moment and that he did not intend to damage anyone’s religious feelings, but that there is a lot of negative content in rap music.
The next year, in 2011, he signed with Rick Ross’s M.M.G. Entertainment. His debut album, “Dreams & Nightmares,” was published in 2012, and he also founded the DreamChasers record label that same year. His second studio album, “Dreams Worth More Than Money,” was released in 2015 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. In 2015, he began dating Nicki Minaj, a rapper, but by the end of 2016, they had split up. “Wins & Losses,” Mill’s third studio album, was released that same year. His fourth studio album, titled “Championships,” was released that year. The rapper dropped four DreamChasers mixtapes between 2011 and 2016.
