Marco Reus is a professional football player from Germany who now plays for the German national team and for the club Borussia Dortmund as an attacking midfielder. Reus is a member of the German national football team. The age of four was when he first developed an interest in football, and it has been with him ever since. His parents instantly saw that their son had a passion for football and made the decision to help him reach his full potential.
They were there for him the whole time and began signing him up with several football teams. The year 1994 marked the beginning of his professional football career, which he began with the local club known as “Post SV Dortmund.” After that, in 2006, he joined a club known as “Rot Weiss Ahlen” and remained with them for the whole of his senior professional football career, which lasted until 2009.
In 2009, he became a member of “Borussia Monchengladbach.” He was a member of the German league known as the “Bundesliga,” and on August 11, 2009, he made his debut with the German national under-21 squad. 2011 was the year that he made his debut with the German national team on the international stage, and in 2012, he was honored with the title of “Footballer of the Year.”
His performance for “Borussia Dortmund” during the 2013–2014 campaign earned him the title of “Player of the Year.” Also, in 2013, he was ranked by “Bloomberg” as the fourth-best player in all of Europe. On May 31, 1989, Marco Reus was born in Dortmund, in what was then West Germany. He comes from a modest family that has roots in both Britain and Russia.
His German-born father, Thomas Reus, hails from England but spent his childhood there. His mother, Manuela Reus, is from Germany and also has Russian ancestry; nevertheless, she was brought up in Germany. Reus has two elder sisters who were named Yvonne and Melanie while he was growing up. When Reus was younger, he spent every spare moment of his childhood playing football.
Even when he was only four years old, Reus’s parents encouraged him become involved with a variety of football teams in the area, which they hoped would foster his already intense passion for the sport. It was with “Post SV Dortmund” that he made his debut with a professional team, and not long after that, he began to get praise from young coaches. As a result of this, his parents signed him up to play with ‘Borussia Dortmund.’
In 1994, he began playing football for the local club known as “Post SV Dortmund,” and two years later, in 1996, he joined the young levels of the football team known as “Borussia Dortmund.” It wasn’t until the summer of 2006 that he made the decision to leave “Borussia Dortmund” and join the under-19 squad of “Rot Weiss Ahlen,” which was his first professional senior football club. Before to that, he had been playing for “Borussia Dortmund.”
Up until 2009, Marco continued to perform with the band ‘Rot Weiss Ahlen.’ He scored a goal in each of his first two games after being called up to play for the club’s second squad, which at the time competed in the “Westphalia” league. He appeared in a total of five games for the team. During his time with this club, Marco made a total of 44 appearances and scored 5 goals.
The year after that, Reus was given the opportunity to join ‘Ahlen’s first squad, which was competing in the third level of German soccer at the time. He played in all 14 of the team’s matches and scored twice. In 2008, Marco was given his first significant opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, and he did not let the opportunity pass him by. He participated in a total of 27 games and scored four goals during his career.
In May of 2009, he put pen to paper on a deal to play for the “Bundesliga” side “Borussia Monchengladbach” for the next four years. Along with them, he competed in the “Bundesliga” of the German league. After three years of association with them, during which time he played 99 times and scored 37 goals, he parted ways with the club in 2012 and has since moved on to other endeavors.
In 2012, Reus was presented with the most lucrative offer of his career when he was courted by one of the most successful football teams in Germany, known as “Borussia Dortmund.” Earlier in his career, he had been a member of the club’s junior squad. Shortly after, Reus agreed to terms with the club on a contract that was worth €17.1 million over the course of five years.
On July 1, 2012, Reus began his tenure as an employee of Dortmund. In only his first season at “Borussia Dortmund,” he established himself as a key member of the squad and helped his club go to the finals of the “UEFA Champions League.” On September 29, Reus scored two goals for his current team, “Dortmund,” in a 5–0 defeat of his previous club, “Borussia Monchengladbach,” which propelled them to the top of the “Bundesliga” table through six games.
On October 3, he scored the first goal that helped ‘Dortmund’ gain a 1–1 draw away to the reigning champions of the ‘Premier League,’ ‘Manchester City.’ This was the very first time he had ever competed in the “Champions League.”
In the Amsterdam Arena on the 21st of November, Reus scored the first goal for Dortmund in their next Champions League encounter, which was a 4–1 victory over AFC Ajax.
The match took place in the Champions League. In 2013, Reus got a hat trick for his team. In the quarterfinal match against Greece on June 22, he scored a goal for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament. His debut for Germany in the competition came with this first match.
