Three separate shows by the duo at Seattle’s Showbox at the Market that same year were each entirely sold out.
The debut studio album by Macklemore and Lewis was titled “The Heist,” and it was released on October 9, 2012. A week after its release, the album debuted at position #2 on the Billboard 200. More than 78,000 copies were bought in less than a week. In the same year that “White Walls” was released, “Same Love” also struck shelves.
The same year, “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The track was the first to top the Hot 100 without the support of a major record company, as reported by Billboard. The single was responsible for this success.
