Louis Hofmann is a German actor who was born on the 3rd of June, 1997. He rose to prominence after starring in the German film Tom Sawyer [de] in 2011 and winning the Bodil Award for Best Supporting Actor in the 2015 Danish film Land of Mine for his role as a juvenile German POW. He’s also recognised for his role as Jonas in the German Netflix Original series Dark, which premiered in 2017.

Hofmann appeared in an episode of the television show Stolberg as a guest star in 2013. Hofmann made his film debut in The Nearly Perfect Man on October 24, 2013. (German: Der fast perfekte Mann).He won the 2015 Bavarian Film Prize for Best Newbie Actor and the 2016 German Actors Award (Deutscher Schauspielerpreis) in the newcomer category for his work as Wolfgang in Marc Brummund’s film Sanctuary (German: Freistatt).In 2016, he won the Best Supporting Actor award at Denmark’s Bodil Awards for his first international role as a German POW in the Danish-German co-production Land of Mine (Danish: Under sandet).
He was awarded the Special Prize Jaeger-LeCoultre Homage to German Cinema at the 2016 German Film Awards, which recognises the contributions of German actors in worldwide films.
Hofmann starred as Phil in Jakob M. Erwa’s coming-of-age romantic drama film Centre of My World (German: Die Mitte der Welt), which was based on Andreas Steinhöfel’s bestselling novel The Centre of the World.
