Ezequiel Lavezzi Bio

The Argentine winger spent the previous five years with Napoli before becoming a mainstay with Paris Saint-Germain in 2012. In 2007, he became a member of the Argentine national squad. Between the ages of 10 and 18, he was a part of the Rosario Central youth soccer program. He made his professional debut in 2003. In 2008, he participated in the Olympics with the Argentine national team and helped them win gold in Beijing. Many professionals in the sport agree that he is among the best Argentine footballers ever. The life of Ezequiel Lavezzi is the subject of this article.

Former Argentine professional football player Ezequiel Lavezzi was born on May 3, 1985, in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, Santa Fe Province. He first picked up a football when he joined CA Boca Juniors’ youth squads. In 2002, he made the switch to the Estudiantes de Buenos Aires youth squad. The next year, he signed with the Caseros team in the Partido Tres de Febrero, Argentina’s third level.

In 2004, Lavezzi was signed by Italian team CFC Genoa, however, he was quickly loaned to Argentine club CA San Lorenzo de Almagro. Lavezzi was rumored to be leaving after one season and returning to Italy. Unfortunately for the striker, CFC Genoa was relegated to Italy’s third-tier Serie C1 in 2005 owing to match-fixing and sold him to San Lorenzo. He was a member of San Lorenzo until 2007, at which time the team won the Clausura championship.

At long last, in July of 2007, he was signed to a five-year contract by SSC Napoli of the Italian Serie A. A premature extension of his contract till 2015 was announced in January of 2010. On July 2, 2012, he became a member of the Paris Saint-Germain of France. At PSG, he spent four years and appeared in 107 league games. Throughout his time in France, he amassed a number of honors and trophies. He committed to the team for four years and was assigned jersey number 11. On February 19, 2016, Lavezzi signed with Hebei China Fortune F.C. of the Chinese Premier League. In three years, he appeared in 74 league games for them.

Lavezzi and his brother both worked as electricians after leaving Boca Juniors’ development academy due to disagreements with the team when they were teenagers Nonetheless, he tried his luck at US Fermana in Italy under chairman Battaglioni by coming there for a trial, but he was ultimately unable to secure a contract due to bureaucratic issues involving his foreign passport. Because of this, he started playing again in 2004, this time for Estudiantes de Buenos Aires in the third level, where he scored seventeen goals in thirty-nine games.

He was signed by Serie B club Genoa towards the conclusion of the season, and the next year he spent on loan with Argentine side CA San Lorenzo de Almagro, where he played in 19 games and scored nine goals. In the summer of 2005, after Genoa had once again qualified for Serie A, they recalled him. On July 23, 2005, he made his debut for the red and blue while wearing jersey number ten in a friendly match against Val Stubai. Two more games followed before a corruption scandal in 2004–2005 relegated the team from Liguria to Serie C1.

He only stayed at Genoa for a month before being permanently acquired by Argentine club CA San Lorenzo de Almagro. After putting on the jersey of the team from this part of Buenos Aires, he went on to great success, leading his club to the 2007 Argentine Primera División title and the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana. Lavezzi played for San Lorenzo for two years and netted sixteen goals in fifty-five appearances. It had been 14 years since a Napoli player had tallied three goals in a game. His first goal in the league came on September 2 against Udinese on the road, and on November 4 against Reggina at the Napoli stadium.

First doing so on 2 February 2008 against Udinese at home and then again on 19 March 2008 against Fiorentina at the San Paolo stadium, he became the first player in Serie A history to score twice in consecutive matches. Napoli advanced to the UEFA Intertoto Cup thanks in part to his eight goals in 35 games during his rookie season in Serie A. On August 28, the next season, he scored his first European goal in a UEFA Cup qualifying match against the Albanian team KS Vllaznia Shkodr. On October 5, 2008, against Genoa, he scored his first goal in Serie A. The following game, the Neapolitans played Juventus in San Paolo, and he scored the game-winning goal.

He initially converted a penalty kick for Napoli in their home game against Cagliari on November 23, 2008. The British newspaper The Times ranked him as number 14 on their list of the 50 most promising young players in the globe. The first goal of the 2009–10 season came in the Coppa Italia against Salernitana. Both of his goals this season have come on the road, with his first coming against Inter and the second against AS Roma. At the end of the away encounter against Cagliari, he was issued a red card for kicking the ball to Cagliari coach Massimiliano Allegri after scoring his third goal of the season.

This was the first red card he had ever received for a direct foul in Italy. A tear in his left thigh muscle suffered on 10 January 2010 while playing against Sampdoria forced him out of action for 40 days. After signing a contract extension through 2015, he scored the game-winning goal at home on March 13 against Fiorentina, the first in over a year. On 25 March, he scored in Napoli’s home game against Juventus, and on 10 April, he made his 100th career appearance for Napoli, against Parma. On April 18th, he played for Bari and scored two goals. Lavezzi moved to Paris Saint-Germain from SSC Napoli in 2012. A year prior, Qatar Sports Investments had acquired the team. This led to Paris Saint-Germain being not just the wealthiest French club, but also one of the world’s wealthiest.
