Dominique Swain Bio

Dominique Swain is a well-known American actress and producer. She was born on August 12, 1980. She became well known for her performance as Lolita in the film version of Adrian Lyne’s novel Lolita, which was released in 1997, and for her supporting role as Jamie Archer in John Woo’s film Face/Off, which was released in the same year. During the latter half of the 1990s and the first decade of the 2000s, she was most active in the indie film industry. Girl, The Intern, The Smokers, Happy Campers, Tart, Pumpkin, Dead in the Water, The Job, Alpha Dog, and Road to Nowhere are some of her other film credits. The girl was released in theaters in 1998. Since then, she has portrayed leading roles in a string of films belonging to the thriller and horror genres. She had an appearance in the music video for the song “We Are All Made of Stars” by Moby, which was released in 2002. Swain is the daughter of Cindy and David Swain Sr., who worked as an electrical engineer.

She was born in Malibu, California. Chelse and Alexis, both of whom are also actresses, are her sisters. Swain began her career in Hollywood working as a stunt double. In the 1993 film The Good Son directed by Joseph Ruben, she played the role of the duplicate for Macaulay Culkin’s younger sister Quinn. In 1995, when she was just 15 years old, she was selected from a pool of 2,500 young women to play the titular role of Dolores “Lolita” Haze in the controversial 1997 film version of Lolita that was directed by Adrian Lyne. She was just 15 years old when the shooting took place, yet reviewers applauded the performance she gave. She subsequently went on to portray Jamie Archer, a defiant teenager, in the 1997 film Face/Off, directed by John Woo. She is most known for her role in the drama film Girl, released in 1998, in which she portrays a high school student who is intent on losing her virginity. After that, she had a significant part in the movie Alpha Dog, which came out in 2006.

In 2009, Swain made an appearance in the Starz Inside special titled “Sex and the Cinema,” which was a panel discussion on how sexuality is portrayed in movies. In the same year, she had a role in the film Noble Things, which was about the country music artist Jimmy Wayne Collins. The film also included the country music performer Lee Ann Womack. Swain also played the lead role of Christie Wallace in the horror/slasher thriller Fall Down Dead. This film was directed by Swain. In 2010, she had the lead role in Monte Hellman’s romantic suspense film Road to Nowhere. In the action thriller written and directed by David Ren and titled The Girl from the Naked Eye, Swain had an appearance.

In 2012, she appeared in the science fiction film Nazis at the Center of the Earth, which was released exclusively on home video. In 2013, Swain played the role of Gena Townsend in the drama film Blue Dream, which was directed by Gregory Hatanaka. She appeared in the 2015 indie action movie Skin Traffik, which also starred Mickey Rourke, Daryl Hannah, Eric Roberts, and Michael Madsen. Every single day of the week, a complete version of the Free Movie of the Day is uploaded to the JoBlo Horror Movies channel on YouTube. However, on Fridays, things become even more terrifying and a little bit more fun. Participating in Friday Fright Nights is a great way to kick off your weekend in the best possible manner. Every Friday, we’ll be taking a look at a different movie from a certain genre that you can see in its full and for free on the YouTube channel that’s linked up above or in the video embed that’s located on this page.

This week’s edition of Friday Fright Night will focus on the supernatural horror picture Dead Mary, which was released in 2007. The film stars Dominique Swain, an actress whose career has not reached the level of prominence that I had anticipated it would reach up to this time. It was in 1997 that she made her debut in the films Lolita and Face/Off, which brought her a great deal of acclaim; but, since then, she hasn’t participated in too many high-profile films, the most notable of which was undoubtedly Alpha Dog, which was released in 2006.

However, despite the fact that the projects she works on may not be showy or attention-grabbing, Swain is always working; in fact, she is set to pass the 100-screen credit milestone. Among those credits: Happy Campers, Tart, JAG, Nazis at the Center of the Earth, Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre, The Wrong Roommate, A Doggone Christmas, A Husband for Christmas, The Fast and the Fierce, The Black Room, A Doggone Adventure, Rottentail, Minutes to Midnight, The Wrong Cruise, The Wrong Teacher, The Wrong Mommy, The Wrong Mr. Right, and Obsessed with the Babysitter. And you are correct, I have seen a few of those films.

My favorite guilty pleasure is The Wrong franchise which airs on Lifetime. The plot of Dead Mary is one that lovers of the horror genre will recognize right away, making it a strong addition to Swain’s filmography. The fact that it takes its time get around to bringing the horror components into the picture is one of the things about it that I truly like about it.

The first few minutes of Dead Mary are simple and unhurried. During the first few minutes, all we see is Swain idly passing the time by sitting in a vehicle by herself. After that, we accompany her to the cottage in the woods, where we learn more about the other characters via sequences of conversation in which they discuss their personal lives with one another. After a wait of about half an hour, it finally becomes apparent what the source of the impending terror is going to be. And at that point, we can’t wait to see just how horrifying the situation is going to grow.
