Darryl Lynn Hughley is an American actor and stand-up comedian who was born on March 6, 1963. Hughley is most known for playing the title role on the ABC/UPN comedy The Hughleys, serving as the show’s initial host from 1992 to 1993, and appearing as one of the “Big Four” comedians in The Original Kings of Comedy. In addition, he has worked as a radio presenter and interviewer in New York City, a journalist for The Jay Leno Show on NBC, and the host of CNN’s D. L. Hughley Breaks the News. D.L. Hughley finished ninth on Dancing with the Stars at the beginning of 2013.
Hughley, the son of Audrey Hughley and Charles Hughley, a maintenance worker for Delta Air Lines, was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. The second of four kids, he. Before his family relocated, he only remained in Portsmouth for two months. South Central Los Angeles is where Hughley was raised. Hughley had a difficult adolescence due to joining the infamous street gang the Bloods and being expelled from San Pedro High School.

In addition to playing Turk’s brother on NBC’s Scrubs and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, he is a member of The Original Kings of Comedy. He presided over the BET Awards in 2008. Hughley discussed having an affair early in his marriage and career during an interview he conducted on Angela Yee’s Lipservice podcast on November 9, 2017. His mistress had given birth to a kid, who his mother’s lover killed after being shaken to death. Hughley’s breakdown on June 19, 2020, while playing at a club in Nashville, Tennessee, was reportedly due to tiredness. He tested positive for COVID-19 in further testing. On July 30, 2020, Hughley was initiated as an honorary member of the fraternity Omega Psi Phi.
The D.L. Hughley Program, a new nationally syndicated afternoon drive show, will be hosted by D.L., according to an announcement made on August 12 by REACH Media, the syndicator Tom Joyner created. Cumulus Media Networks will distribute the show. Hughley appeared as a guest on the TBS show Glory Daze and presented Who Wants to Be a Millionaire as a guest. On June 30, 2020, HarperCollins will release Hughley’s fourth book, Surrender, White People: Our Unconditional Terms for Peace, with contributions by Doug Moe. How to Survive America, Hughley’s most recent book was released by Custom House on June 15, 2021. Doug Moe contributed to it. The D.L. Hughley Show, which he is now presenting, debuted on TV One on March 18, 2019.
