Christopher Alan Young is a well-known American country music singer and songwriter. He was born on June 12, 1985, in the United States. In 2006, he triumphed as the victor of the fourth season of the singing competition series Nashville Star, which was shown on USA Network. Following his victory, RCA Records Nashville offered him a recording contract, and he promptly issued his debut album under that name later that same year. It resulted in two singles, “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” and “You’re Gonna Love Me,” which were both included on the Hot Country Songs chart. On September 1, 2009, he released his second album, which was titled The Man I Want to Be.
It featured the top-charting singles “Voices,” “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” and “Title Track,” all of which reached number one on the Billboard charts. The singles “Tomorrow” and “You” from Neil Young’s third album, Neon, both peaked at number one in the United States in 2011 and “I Can Take It from There” became a top five success in 2012. The subsequent studio album, titled A.M., was released in 2013, and it spawned three new songs, “Aw Naw,” “Who I Am with You,” and “Lonely Eyes,” all of which became top 5 hits. I’m Comin’ Over, his fifth album, was released on November 13, 2015, and it was the day after Thanksgiving. In 2017, Young was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, which is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in the field of country music.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church when he was a younger man. The Louisiana Hayride was one of the stages on which his grandfather, Richard Yates, performed. Young showed an early love for music and began performing in a variety of musical plays for children when he was very young. While he was a student at Oakland High School, he participated in the school’s chorus and started playing music at neighborhood clubs.
In the year 2000, he participated in a show called “A Night at the Palladium” with the Winter Drumline of his high school. In this performance, he sang mariachi music. In that particular year, the corps participated in the Winter Guard International Tournament held in Ohio. Young was awarded the title of Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2003 in addition to winning the national YoungArts competition that year.
In addition to his studies at the university, he maintained an active touring schedule, playing more than 150 gigs a year. In the year 2006, Chris Young served as the house vocalist at Cowboys Dance Hall, which was located in Arlington, Texas. It was recommended to him by Park Scott and Keith Swan that he try out for the role of a Nashville Star contestant in Houston, Texas. In 2006, he competed in the show and took first place. As a result of his victory, RCA Records Nashville offered him a recording contract, and by the end of the same year, he had recorded his first single, titled “Drinkin’ Me Lonely.” This song was released as the first single from his self-titled debut album, which was produced by Buddy Cannon.
The song reached its highest position on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at number 42. The second song from the album, “You’re Gonna Love Me,” reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 48. A stand for the festival. The song “Voices” made his first Top 40 entry on the Billboard charts in August, reaching its highest position at number 37. In September 2009, he released his second album, which was titled The Man I Want to Be. It was produced by James Stroud and included cover versions of “Rose in Paradise” by Waylon Jennings (as a duet with Willie Nelson) and “Rainy Night in Georgia” by Tony Joe White.
Young’s “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” got his first number-one song in October of 2009, when it was Young’s fourth chart single overall. In November 2009, the album’s title track was made available to the public. It and a re-release of the song “Voices” both debuted at number one in the charts. Alongside Luke Bryan and Jamey Johnson, the Academy of Country Music considered him a candidate for the Top New Solo Vocalist award in 2010. On November 10, 2010, he participated as a presenter at the 44th Annual Country Music Awards.
The song “Gettin’ You Home” garnered him a nomination for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Male Country Vocal Performance. The song “Tomorrow” was released as a single by Young in February 2011. It gave him his fourth consecutive number-one hit. In July 2011, the album Neon was made available for purchase. This album features “You,” his sixth consecutive number-one single, as well as “I Can Take It from There” and “I Can Take It from Here.” It wasn’t until August 2012 that “Tomorrow” became his first single to be certified platinum.
Young participated as an Ambassador for the CMA Songwriter’s Series showcases that took place in Belfast, Dublin, London, and Paris in 2013. These events were held in an effort to promote country music in international settings. On May 13, 2013, Young’s “Aw Naw” became the first single taken from his fourth studio album to be made available to country radio stations. In November 2013, it reached its highest position on the Country Airplay chart, which was at number 3. The album known as A.M. was made available for purchase on September 17, 2013.
The song “Who I Am with You” was the album’s second single, and it was released on January 20th, 2014. In August 2014, it reached its highest position on the Country Airplay chart, which was number two. The song “Lonely Eyes” is the third single from the album and was released to country radio on August 25, 2014. In April 2015, it climbed all the way to number two on the Country Airplay chart. The song “I’m Comin’ Over” was Young’s latest single, and it was released on May 12, 2015. It was the first single to be released from his fifth studio album, which also went by the same name and was released on November 13, 2015.
In the same month, “I’m Comin’ Over” became his sixth number-one single on the Country charts, and it was his first number-one hit since “You” in February of 2012. In late 2016, in support of the album, Young embarked on the I’m Comin’ Over Tour, which consisted of 14 performances. On January 4, 2016, the second single from the album, titled “Think of You” and featuring Cassadee Pope, was made available. In May 2016, it climbed all the way to the top of the Country charts. On June 6, 2016, the third single, “Sober Saturday Night,” a duet with Vince Gill, was made available for digital download. In March 2017, it climbed to the top spot on the Country Airplay chart.
