And they’ll have a celebrity to help them. Perfect Game named Ethan Long as a utility player to its Third Team All-American roster.

Long, a two-way player, made an impact on both sides as a freshman last season. However, it was his bat that thrust him into the national spotlight. With a.340 batting average, Long hit 16 home runs and drove in 54 RBIs. In 6.2 innings, he also recorded four saves. Long will have high expectations in 2022, as this is his second All-American selection this preseason, the first coming from Collegiate Baseball News. This season, he might get the Spencer Torkelson treatment. Following the former first-round pick’s freshman season, many teams pitched around him, forcing others to step up in the lineup.

Long is expected to move to third base as Hunter Haas moves to shortstop. The Sun Devils are set to open the season on Feb. 18 against Dixie State University at Dixie State Stadium, as part of the Western Athletic Conference. Bobby Winkles, in his fifth season as head coach at Arizona State, led the team. The Sun Devils made their first appearance at the College World Series, finishing tied for fifth place after winning a second-round game against Ole Miss and losing an opening-round game to eventual runner-up Missouri and an elimination game.d%20Coach% 20Jason, which% 20six% 20teamseld opened in 1974.

The baseball field was aligned (home to center field) in the same manner as Dedeaux Field, but a few degrees clockwise, nearly true north, but just slightly west. Home plate was in what is now E.F. Hutton Park, and the left-field was bordered by Watt Way. A large eucalyptus tree came into play beyond first base; while the trunk was in foul territory, some of its branches crossed into fair territory and guarded the foul line in shallow right field.

The USC Trojans play their home games at Dedeaux Field. It is named after Rod Dedeaux, a legendary USC coach who coached from 1942 to 1986. The Trojans moved into the ballpark in 1974, the same year they won their fifth national championship in a row. The current capacity is 2,500 people, following extensive renovations. He finished the season with a team-high 54 RBI, tied for fourth in ASU freshman history with Barry Bonds, and his 16 home runs surpassed Bonds for second in ASU freshman history, trailing only Spencer Torkelson and ranking in the Top-Five in the league. These numbers are even more impressive when you consider that after the Washington series ended on April 11, he had only one home run and 12 RBIs on the season after starting the season as the team’s closer and posting four saves and no earned runs in the first week of action before suffering a minor injury that has kept him off the mound since.

Led the team with 21 two-out RBI and batted.400 with runners in scoring position (20-of-40). Long drove in the winning run in seven Sun Devil victories this season, three of which came against ranked opponents (#16 Oregon, #18 Stanford, and #23 Oregon State) and four of which came via the long ball. This season, he has two game-winning home runs in the ninth inning. ASU won five straight weekend series behind Long’s bat in the second half of the season. On April 16, he started to heat up with a go-ahead two-RBI eighth-inning double-off potential Stanford All-American closer Zach Grech.

During the 19-game stretch that began that night and ended with his hitless weekend With another week of postseason awards in the books, Sun Devil Baseball freshman Ethan Long continued to add to his rapidly growing resume with numerous additions to his trophy case in addition to a slew of awards from several other Sun Devils over the past several weeks. Last week,

Long became the 11th Sun Devil to be named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, which is given annually by USA Baseball to the best college baseball player. This week, he added two more All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) (third team/Designated Hitter) and Baseball America (second team/first base) to become a consensus All-American.
