Bio

Amy Jo Johnson born October 6, 1970, is a singer/songwriter, musician, and director from the United States. In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, she portrayed Kimberly Ann Hart, the Pink Ranger. She also portrays the same character in a feature film. Despite leaving the cast after “A Different Shade of Pink,” Amy Jo Johnson’s footage is used in the opening of MMPR from “Rita’s Pita” to “Alien Rangers of Aquitar.” Bloom of Doom is her favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episode. Amy Jo Johnson had a gymnastics career before joining the Power Rangers, but it ended when she chipped the bone in one of her elbows.

This is a complete reversal of Kimberly, who was a Power Ranger before leaving to pursue a gymnastics career. In the book ‘Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Tough Stuff,’ she wrote the story’ Memories of My Mother.’ Music, painting, and writing are among her favorite pastimes. Her painting abilities were highlighted in the episode Blue Ranger Gone Bad, and her musical abilities were highlighted in The Song Of Guitar.

She enjoys The Grateful Dead, as well as many other classic rock bands. She is well-known for her ability to play the guitar and the piano. She and fellow Mighty Morphin Power Rangers co-star Thuy Trang attended Thuy Trang’s funeral in 2001, along with David Yost, Austin St. John, and Walter Emanuel Jones. At the funeral, she was one of the speakers.

She is the longest-serving Power Ranger actress, with Jason David Frank being the longest-serving actor (Tommy Oliver). She was the only original cast member still present when her character was killed off in the series. She does, in fact, have a MySpace page. She is the mother of a daughter named Francesca, who was born in December 2008. She is regarded as the most successful actress following her appearance in Power Rangers. Despite being on mostly good terms with Saban,

Amy Jo Johnson admitted that she, too, had encountered issues with pay and safety hazards while filming. She would also admit to having a stalker at one point while playing the role of Kimberly. Unless Legendary Battle is counted, she is the only one of the original six actors who has never been played by a body double or substitute after leaving the show.

Despite being cast as the Pink Ranger, she claims in an interview that she despises the color pink. She did, however, wear purple clothing over her pink clothing in the episodes Crystal of Nightmares, Switching Places, and Happy Birthday, Zack. Vida Rocca from Power Rangers Mystic Force, a later Pink Ranger, would also dislike the color pink, despite the fact that it was her team’s color designation. She shares her name with Amy Johnson, a famous British aviator who flew during World War II.

Amy appears to be finally coming to terms with her work on Power Rangers, according to a recent interview conducted by NoPinkSpandex.com, because she is laughing and remembering fond memories of everyone she worked with. This is in stark contrast to what she stated on I Love the 90s: 1993, in which she stated that being on the show as Kimberly was the inspiration for her character in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Johnson is also well-known for her role as Julie Emrick on The WB’s college drama Felicity, where she began her music career and released her first single, “Puddle of Grace.” She is also well-known for her roles as rookie cop Stacy Reynolds on Lifetime’s cop drama The Division and champion jockey Tina Sharp on the TV drama Wildfire. Between 2008 and 2013, Johnson starred in the Canadian hit series Flashpoint. She was nominated for a Gemini Award in 2009 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for her starring role as SRU negotiator Jules Callaghan. She became a naturalized Canadian citizen in 2015.

She recently appeared in Power Rangers as a cameo alongside Jason David Frank (2017). Despite subsequent minor appearances by the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger, including in Neo Saban and Hasbro era series, Amy Jo Johnson has yet to reprise her role. Johnson and her boyfriend will collaborate on a Power Rangers comic book for Boom! Studios, it was announced.

Johnson’s breakthrough role came less than a month after she relocated to Los Angeles, when she was cast as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the first film in the Power Rangers franchise. Despite the series’ huge success and bringing Johnson international recognition as an actress, the show provided her with little financial security, as she and the other cast members were paid only $600 per week for their work on the show, which included stunt work and public appearances; none of the cast members received any royalties from re-runs of episodes they appeared in.

As a non-union show, a physical danger on set posed a very real threat to Johnson; while filming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, she was almost set on fire during a stunt, and she was almost electrocuted while filming Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. Johnson eventually decided to leave the show in 1995, handing over the role of the Pink Ranger to Australian actress Catherine Sutherland. During an appearance on I Love the ’90s, Johnson joked that being the Pink Power Ranger was something she would “never live down.”

Johnson later stated that becoming famous as a result of the show was at times overwhelming and gave her nightmares, but that overall, she learned a lot and is grateful to the show and her fans.  Johnson’s character has appeared in 138 episodes of the franchise, with her most recent TV appearance coming in a Power Rangers Beast Morphers episode in 2020.

She made a cameo appearance in the 2017 film Power Rangers, alongside former co-star Jason David Frank, but not as the Power Rangers themselves. Johnson in the year 2000 Johnson went on to star in the Disney Channel’s Susie Q and the Saved by the Bell: The New Class episode “Backstage Pass” after leaving the show in November 1995Griffin and in Perfect Body, she played a gymnast with an eating disorder. Johnson was also in the film Without Limits. She also played Kimberly Hart again in Turbo:

A Power Rangers Movie. Johnson was cast as Julie Emrick in The WB series Felicity in September 1998. She was a regular on Felicity for three seasons and appeared as a special guest in the fourth and final season. Johnson appeared in the early 2000s films Interstate 60, Pursuit of Happiness, and Infested, as well as the television film Hard Ground. She also appeared as a guest star on Spin City and ER. In the fourth season of The Division, she played Stacy Reynolds. She had recurring roles in Wildfire and What About Brian in the latter half of the decade, and she starred in Syfy’s Magma:

Volcanic Disaster and Lifetime’s Fatal Trust. Johnson also appeared in three independent films: Veritas, Prince of Truth, and Islander. Beginning in 2008, Johnson was a series regular on Flashpoint as Constable Jules Callaghan, a member of the Toronto Police Service’s fictitious Strategic Response Unit. For her performance, she was nominated for a Gemini Award.

The show continued to air new episodes until 2012. Johnson has appeared in a few shows as a guest star since 2012, including a recurring role as Hayley Price in the Universal spy drama series Covert Affairs. Directing Johnson is the director and producer of two critically acclaimed short films: Bent (2013) and Lines (2014). (2014) She later directed the feature film The Space Between.

Tammy’s Always Dying, her next film, began production in 2018.  The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised Huffman and Phillips’ performances in particular.  It will be available on video on demand on May 1, 2020. She is a member of Film Fatales, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting gender equality in the entertainment industry. She announced in mid-2021 that she would be directing an episode of Superman & Lois for the show’s second season Music Johnson is a singer-songwriter who has three albums to his credit: The Trans-American Treatment (2001), Imperfect (2005), and Never Broken (2008). (2013).

She has shared the stage with the Amy Jo Johnson Band in the Los Angeles area. She provided guest vocals for Koishii & Hush’s cover of The Cars’ “Since You’re Gone,” which was released as a single in December 2007. The song is also included on the 2008 album Souvenirs. Johnson’s music has appeared on a number of television shows. Johnson’s character in Felicity was originally described as a dancer, but the producers rewrote the character as a singer and guitarist with Johnson’s input. Johnson was able to perform her own song, ”

Puddle of Grace,” on the show as a result. This song appears on the album Felicity Soundtrack (1999), which was successfully released by Hollywood Records. As a result of the song’s success, another Johnson song, “Clear Blue Day,” was featured on the show. Her song “Cat in the Snow” is the theme song for one of the episodes of The Division. Her songs “Dancing In-Between” and “Goodbye” were featured in Flashpoint.
