Bio

Members of the British pop rock band The Vamps are Brad Simpson (lead vocals and guitar), James McVey (lead guitar and vocals), Connor Ball (bass guitar and vocals), and Tristan Evans. Simpson handles the main vocals, while McVey, Ball, and Evans share lead guitar and vocal duties, respectively (drums and vocals). They started playing together at the beginning of 2012, and by November of that year, they had signed with Mercury Records. Throughout the early part of 2013, The Vamps served as support for McFly on their Memory Lane Tour.

In addition to that, they gave performances at a number of festival-style events all around the United Kingdom as support acts for other artists such as The Wanted, JLS, Little Mix, Lawson, and Demi Lovato. Richard Cashman and Joe O’Neill of Prestige Management were already James McVey’s managers by the time 2011 rolled around. After coming to the conclusion that he wanted to start a band, McVey looked for potential members on YouTube and came across Bradley Simpson. In the latter part of 2011, the two of them collaborated on songwriting, and Simpson eventually took over as the band’s main vocalist.

In the year 2012, Simpson and McVey were introduced to Tristan Evans via the platform of Facebook. After then, the three of them were introduced to Connor Ball via a common acquaintance. Towards the middle of the year 2012, the band began posting cover songs to their channel on YouTube. On July 22, 2013, the band published their first original song on their YouTube account. The song was first titled “Wildheart,” but it was then renamed “Wild Heart.” The video for the song had more than 46,000 views within the first two days.

They launched the music video for their first song “Can We Dance” on August 6, 2013, and it quickly racked up more than one million views within the first two weeks after its release. Can We Dance was released on September 29, 2013, and it debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart on October 6, 2013. Nevertheless, it was knocked off the top spot on the chart by OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” which sold 1,250 copies more than “Can We Dance.”

The band made the announcement on November 19, 2013, that they will be releasing their first album around Easter. On the 22nd of November 2013, The Vamps revealed that they will be releasing “Wild Heart” as their second single. The song was broadcast for the first time three days later, and it was made available to the public on January 19, 2014. It reached its highest position on the UK Singles Chart the following week, at number three.

The Vamps made the announcement that the release of their first studio album will take place on April 14, 2014, and on March 13, 2014. It was announced on the 22nd of March that the album will be named Meet the Vamps. As the third single taken from the album, “Last Night” was made available for purchase on April 6th. It made its debut in the UK at position two. Meet the Vamps made their debut on the Irish Albums Chart on April 17, landing in the number two slot. Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love continued to hold the top spot on the chart.

The Vamps had their record knocked off the top spot on the UK Albums Chart by the same album. A new version of “Somebody To You” featuring American singer Demi Lovato was released as the fourth single from Meet The Vamps on May 18, 2014, and it also served as the band’s debut single in the United States. This was followed by the release of an EP with the same title in August 2014, which was also the band’s first single in the United States.

This duet was also used as the first single for the Vamps’ debut album in the United States. Almost 108 million people have seen the accompanying music video on YouTube since it was uploaded there. The band’s fifth and final single from their album was a reworked version of “Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)” that included Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. It was released on October 12, 2014, as the fifth and last single from their album. It made its debut and reached its highest position on the UK Singles Chart at number nine, making it the band’s fifth top 10 hit in a row.

The song was released with the B-side of “Hurricane,” which was taken from the soundtrack for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Both songs’ corresponding music videos were made available online a month before the songs themselves. The Vamps made the announcement in February 2015 that they had created their own record company in collaboration with Universal Music and EMI Records. The label did not yet have a name at the time of the announcement, but they had already signed the American pop-rock band The Tide as their first signing.

It wasn’t until the month of October that anybody knew what the company would be called: Steady Records. The band made the announcement about their new song “Wake Up” on September 15, 2015, and it was made available for purchase on October 2, 2015. Wake Up, the band’s second album recorded in a studio was released on November 27, 2015. In order to promote the record, the band has given performances at fan conventions around Europe and has also begun a global tour under the name Wake Up World Tour, which kicked off in January 2016.

The single debuted and peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart, while the album debuted at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 27,000 copies in the nation in its first week of release. Both of these achievements occurred in the United Kingdom. The song “Rest Your Love,” which was the album’s second single, was also released on the same day as the album itself. The Vamps made the announcement in December 2015 that they had signed the British band New Hope Club, and that they would be one of the opening bands for the Wake Up World Tour leg that will take place in the United Kingdom.
