Roger Harry Daltrey CBE is a well-known English singer, guitarist, and actor. He was born on March 1st, 1944. In addition to being a co-founder of the rock band The Who, he is also the band’s lead singer. After Daltrey assaulted their drummer Keith Moon in late 1965 for giving illicit narcotics to Townshend and Entwistle, the other members of the Who decided to dismiss him from the band. This event caused Moon to reevaluate his approach to interacting with other people and led to the Who’s dissolution. One week later, Daltrey was allowed to rejoin the band, but they informed him that he would be placed on probation. He gave his word that there would be no more aggressive outbursts or physical confrontations. “I thought if I lost the band I was dead,” Daltrey remembers thinking at the time. If I hadn’t stayed with the Who, I probably would have ended up working in sheet metal for the rest of my life.”
The song “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere” was the second single released by the band, and it was written by Daltrey and Townshend together.
