Bio

American country singer and songwriter James Travis Tritt is better known by his stage name, Travis Tritt. Up to this point, he has put out 12 country albums, the most of which were distributed by Warner Bros. recordings. Tritt’s potential was first seen by Warner Bros., who forwarded his demo to LA, which then requested that their Nashville office sign him. The highest certification is triple-platinum for “It’s All About to Change,” which is one of seven of his albums that have received platinum or higher certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

In addition, he has been on the Hot Country Songs list more than 40 times and won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. He has also been a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has won four awards from the Country Music Association. Tritt is distinctive in the ways he displays himself; he never adopted the image of a conventional country singer and dispensed with the customary cowboy hat in favour of rock-style performances. In addition to acting in movies and television shows, he is a singer. He has a publishing company for music called Post Oak. James and Gwen Tritt gave birth to Tritt on February 9, 1963 in Georgia. When he was younger, he used to sing in a church’s children’s chorus.

When he received a guitar at age 8, he taught himself how to play it. 1990 saw the publication of Tritt’s first album, “Country Club.” Other songs including “Help Me Hold On” and “I’m Going to Be Somebody” also reached the top of the charts in addition to the album’s title tune, which entered the national Top 10. It’s All About to Change, Tritt’s second album and triple-platinum seller, is regarded as his best effort.

The Country Music Association Award and the Grammy Award were his rewards for it. Billboard, four Country Work Association Awards, and two Grammy Awards, one for the song “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin'” and the other for the single “Same Old Train,” were among the accolades Tritt received for his music during the 1990s. Tritt wed Karen Ryon, his high school sweetheart, in 1983. At the time, Ryon worked at a Burger King while Tritt worked for an air conditioning firm. They separated after six months. Before he was 22, this well-known American country artist got married twice and divorced.

In television movies and series including “Rio Diablo,” “Tales from the Crypt,” “Diagnosis Murder,” “Touched by an Angel,” “King of the Hill,” “Yes, Dear,” “Blue Collar TV,” “Battleground Earth,” “The Girls Next Door,” and others, he has made short appearances.Tritt said in 2010 that he was developing his own record label. He has a publishing firm for music named “Post Oak.” In 2013, he re-released his album “The Storm” with Post Oak under the name “The Calm After…” He collaborated on the duet “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough” for the album with his daughter Tyler Reese. Three of the six tracks Tritt was required under his contract with Warner Bros. to record would be made available as singles. He wouldn’t be committed to a complete album, under the deal, unless one of the three singles was a success.  “Country Club” was his first single.

The song, which was finished in late 1988 and was released on August 7, 1989, lasted 26 weeks and reached its highest position of nine on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. It was the album’s first single, Country Club, from his self-titled debut, which Gregg Brown produced. Tritt had to take a vocal vacation for a month after rupturing a blood vessel on his vocal chords in the month before the album’s release.  In 1990, his second song, “Help Me Hold On,” won the top charts.  “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” and “Drift Off to Dream,” the third and fifth singles from the album, respectively peaked at positions two and three on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts and at number one on the Canadian RPM country charts; “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” also topped the Radio & Records country singles charts in the United States.

The fourth single to be released, “Put Some Drive in Your Country,” reached number 28 on the Hot Country Songs chart.  Country Club received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America  in July 1991 for one million copies shipped, but after 1996, no awards have been awarded. He received Billboard’s Top New Male Artist honour in 1990.  The Country Music Association nominated him for the New Artist Award, which is granted to emerging performers who have shown the greatest creative and commercial growth from a debut or follow-up album.

In 1984, he wed Jodi Barnett for a second time. He was twelve years older than Barnett. The couple filed for divorce in 1989 after their marriage fell apart.Tristan James, Tarian Nathaniel, and Tyler Reese are the couple’s three children; they wed Theresa Nelson in 1997.Tritt hired Ken Kragen as his manager, which helped his career as Kragen was well-connected in the Nashville music scene. It’s All About to Change, which was released in 1991, went on to become the best-selling album.

His second double-platinum certified album, “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” was released in 1992. Its top Billboard songs were “Lord Have Mercy on the Working Man” and “Can I Trust You with My Heart.”With his albums like “Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof,” “The Restless Kind,” “No More Looking Over My Shoulder,” etc., he was unable to repeat the same success throughout the remainder of the 1990s. The albums had just fair success.

After leaving Warner Bros., Tritt joined with Columbia Records, and in 2000, he released the album “Down the Road I Go.” Its lead song, “Best of Intentions,” was his fifth and last Billboard number one.

Due to artistic disputes, Tritt left Columbia Records after the release of “Strong Enough” and “My Honky Tonk History”. In 2010, he released “The Storm,” an album with elements of R&B, soul, and blues. As a young man who aspired to be a country singer like his heroes Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Hank Williams Jr., Tritt began penning his own songs. He was a student at Sprayberry High.

Tritt worked at businesses including a furniture shop, a grocery store, and an air conditioning firm as he was growing up. He was performing at neighbourhood bars while simultaneously recording songs with a tiny band.He began making recordings with the assistance of Warner Bros. Records; they assembled a tape titled “Proud of the Country” and submitted it to Warner Bros. in Los Angeles. He was hired by them in 1987.
