She has participated in a variety of professional development courses, including the Cable Executive Management Program held at the Harvard Business School/CTAM, the HR Strategy Executive Education program held at Cornell University, and the WICT Network Senior Executive Summit held at Stanford.

Both of these awards were presented to Tina in 2019. Tina and her hubby have made their home in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia.
In 2006, the University of Pennsylvania honored me by awarding me the degree of Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics. Tina Simmons was born and raised in Philadelphia, which was also the city in which she began her professional career. In 1989, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Villanova University. When she started having second thoughts about continuing her education, she was working as the manager of the call center for PECO. Instead of pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree, Tina’s coworkers suggested that she look into the Organizational Dynamics program at Penn.
She was intrigued enough to decide to attend an information session after realizing that this professional master’s would provide her with an education that was so abundant in opportunities for invention and discovery that it would make all other master’s degree programs seem uninteresting in comparison. As a result of her realization, she chose to attend the session.
It’s a really fast-paced environment. The development of original solutions to existing problems and the conception of brand-new concepts are the primary focuses of the field of study known as organizational dynamics. The purpose of this exercise is to utilize creative thought to figure out how a group functions and, more significantly, why it doesn’t always work. In contrast to just responding to issues, the training will teach you how to take an active role in finding solutions to problems and will provide you with the tools necessary to guide your business in the right direction.
Before I made the decision to switch my major, I had already completed one or two classes in the new field. Because the program gave me the flexibility to choose my own pace for classwork, I was able to balance the duties I had as an employee of a software consulting firm that was still in its early stages with the academic work I needed to do. After working for the company for two years, Comcast, which was in the process of acquiring another telecom company, hired me to manage its call center operations. Due to the amount of time, I spent working and traveling, I was no longer able to continue hosting my show. When I wanted to take a break from the program for a bit, the staff in Organizational Dynamics was really understanding and helpful, and they helped me keep my credits and get back into the program.
In addition to group dynamics, change management, and leadership, I knew that when I eventually went back to school, one of the subjects I wanted to study was gender and leadership. As soon as Comcast noticed that I had gotten back on track with my program, they promoted me to the position of senior director. In spite of the fact that my new job came with a significant amount of responsibility, I discovered that the concepts we were debating in school helped me maintain my level of enthusiasm. The number of open and honest conversations that we had also left an impression on me. Because of the wide range of backgrounds represented by the attendees, we were able to talk freely about difficult issues relating to our employees. Those were extremely weighty consequences to face.
