On April 10, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan, USA, to parents, Samuel Steven and Patricia, their son Steven Frederic Seagal was born. His mother worked as a medical technician, and his dad taught at the high school level. His paternal grandfather was Jewish in Russia, and his maternal grandparents were English, German, and Dutch. Before moving to Fullerton, he attended Buena Park High School in Buena Park.
He found work at a place called “The Wagon Wheel,” where he was employed as a dishwasher. After being cast as ‘Casey Ryback’ in the 1992 smash hit ‘Under Siege,’ he had a surge in popularity. Two years later, he directed and starred in the middling action flick On Deadly Ground. He has a starring role in the 1995 sequel “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory.” The movie ended up becoming one of his most profitable works. He had leading roles in two movies the following year: “The Glimmer Man” and “Executive Decision.”
In 1997, he portrayed an Environmental Protection Agency agent battling moguls who dump toxic trash in the film Fire Down Below. Due to the film’s poor reception, his contract with “Warner Bros.” was canceled. The Patriot was a 1998 direct-to-video film he starred in and produced. Films such as ‘Exit Wounds,’ ‘Ticker,’ ‘Half Past Dead,’ ‘The Foreigner,’ ‘Out for a Kill,’ and ‘Belly of the Beast’ featured him between 2001 and 2003.
Not only is he an accomplished actor and martial artist, but he’s also quite the guitarist. The CD “Songs from the Crystal Cave” was published in 2005 and marked his professional recording debut. His album was included in the film ‘Into the Sun’ that same year. His second album ‘Mojo Priest’ was released in April 2006. He spent the rest of the year touring the United States and Europe with his band to support the album.
Since he was also a Reserve Deputy Chief for the Jefferson Parish Police Department, he saw an opportunity to parlay that experience into the successful TV series “Steven Seagal: Lawman,” which debuted in 2009 and continued for several seasons. In addition to his own program, he has made guest appearances in such films as The Keeper and Driven to Kill.
In 2010, he returned to mainstream Hollywood with the movie ‘Machete’ where he played the role of ‘Rogelio Torrez.’ He also had a role in “Sheep Impact,” released the same year, that he played in. Between 2011 and 2014, he was in “Born to Raise Hell,” “Maximum Conviction,” “Gutshot Straight,” and “Force of Execution.”
