He has the role of Bill Tanner in four different James Bond movies, including Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die, as well as in many other James Bond video games. Because of his work in the movie Broken in 2012, he was presented with a British Independent Film Award. In the horror film Men, he played the roles of all the male residents of the village of Cotson.
His television roles include Michael on the BBC comedy Count Arthur Strong (2013–2017), Lord Lucan in the two-part ITV series Lucan, Frankenstein’s monster in Penny Dreadful, and the lead role of Prime Minister Michael Callow in the first episode of the anthology series Black Mirror. “The National Anthem” is the title of the attack. Bank of Dave, which he directed in 2023, was his most recent feature. He had two elder sisters named Karina and Kirsty while growing up. He is the godson of actor Michael Williams and the grandson of Scottish international rugby union and rugby league player Roy Kinnear, who played for Scotland at all levels.
He attended Tower House School, from which he graduated in 1991, St. Paul’s School in London, and Balliol College in Oxford, where he majored in English language and literature. After that, he attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) to study acting. Kinnear performed in the Mary Stuart production by Phyllida Lloyd and in Trevor Nunn’s Hamlet, in which he performed the role of Laertes. He also won the Laurence Olivier Award and the Ian Charleson Award for his performance as the outlandish Sir Fopling Flutter in “The Man of Mode” at the National Theatre.
For this role, he received notice and won the 2008 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role. Other prominent roles he has played in the theater include the lead in Thomas Middleton’s The Revenger’s Tragedy, Pyotr in Maxim Gorky’s Philistines, and Mitia in a stage version of the Nikita Mikhalkov film Burnt by the Sun, all of which were for the National Theatre. His other important work in the theater includes this.
At the Almeida Theatre in 2010, he performed Angelo in the drama Measure for Measure. In the latter part of 2010, he performed Hamlet in the title role at the National Theatre. Because of these two performances, he was awarded the prize for best actor at the Evening Standard Drama Awards in 2010. During the summer of 2012, you might see Kinnear at the National Theatre performing in Stephen Beresford’s production of “The Last of the Haussmans.” On October 11, 2012, it was shown in theaters all around the globe as part of the National Theatre Live program.
During the summer of 2013, he performed as Iago at the National Theatre opposite Adrian Lester, who was playing the lead role in Othello. The Evening Standard Theatre Awards presented the Best Actor award to both actors who played their parts; this honor is generally awarded to just one actor, but the judges could not pick between the two actors who shared the prize. In addition, Kinnear’s performance in Othello earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in 2014. This award was issued in 2014.
Kinnear’s first play, The Herd, was presented for the first time at London’s Bush Theatre in September 2013 under the direction of Howard Davies. At the beginning of April 2015, it was performed at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. In October 2017, he performed at the Bridge Theatre in the title role of Young Marx, which was the play’s first staging. In February 2018, he returned to the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre to perform the leading role in Macbeth with Anne-Marie Duff.
Kinnear discovered his “dormant” singing voice for the character of Macheath in The Threepenny Opera, which ran at the Olivier Theatre from May to October of 2016. The Threepenny Opera is a “play with songs.” In February 2017, he debuted as a director for English National Opera with The Winter’s Tale, a new opera written by Ryan Wigglesworth and based on Shakespeare’s play. The opera was based on Shakespeare’s play.
After Michael Kitchen departed from the role, Greg Kinnear took over as Bill Tanner in the James Bond film series set during Craig’s period. He is the fourth actor to portray the position since it was created. Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021) are some of the films in which he has featured. Kinnear has also lent his voice and likeness to the James Bond video games GoldenEye 007 (2010), James Bond 007: Blood Stone (2010), and 007 Legends (2012). In addition to the films, Kinnear has appeared in all three games. In the 2014 film adaptation of the book Alan Turing.
