Rondi Anne Reed is an American actress who has been on both stage and in cinema. She was born on October 26, 1952. She has participated in more than 50 plays at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, where she has been a member for a very long period. She has also been active on Broadway, where she was recognized with the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play in 2008 for her work in the play August: Osage County in the role of Mattie Fae Aiken.

Peggy, the character she played in the television sitcom Mike & Molly from 2010 until 2016, is the reason she is recognized by the general public. Rondi Reed has been a part of the Steppenwolf Ensemble for the past 35 years. During that time, she has performed in more than 50 plays at Steppenwolf Theatre, which she considers to be her artistic home. Additionally, she has appeared in Festival productions for Steppenwolf in Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Rondi is currently a teacher as well as a director in the city of Chicago.

She has vast experience working in Regional Theatre, in addition to Broadway and Off-Broadway. She has been honored with a number of accolades in recognition of her efforts, the most recent of which was the TONY Award for Featured Actress for her role in August: Osage County. The play was penned by fellow ensemble member Tracy Letts and directed by fellow ensemble member Anna Shapiro.

Rondi was also a member of the original cast of WICKED (Chicago) and played Madame Morrible in that production. She went on to reprise her role in the Broadway version. She is also known for her role as Peggy on the popular CBS sitcom Mike & Molly and for her roles in the HBO films You Don’t Know Jack and Normal, in which she co-starred alongside Al Pacino and Jessica Lange, respectively.

Dixon, Illinois is where Reed began his life. She received her bachelor’s degree in 1977 from Illinois State University[1]. After that, in 1976, while she was working at Steppenwolf Theater, she became acquainted with Stephen Eich, a Broadway theater producer, and eventually married him in 1982. After being married for 34 years, they finalized their divorce in 2016.

Reed has been a part of the Steppenwolf Theatre organization in Chicago for a significant amount of time, and he has participated in 51 shows with the organization. She had a number of roles on Broadway, including The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in 1994 and The Grapes of Wrath in 1990. On July 13, 2005, she made her debut in the Chicago version of the musical Wicked, performing the part of Madame Morrible for the first time.

In 2007, she made her debut on Broadway as Mattie Fae Aiken in the production of August: Osage County, for which she was later awarded the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play in 2008.August: Osage County was the play for which she won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Mattie Fae Aiken. In the musical Wicked, she also played the role of Madame Morrible.

She later resumed her performance as Madame Morrible in the Chicago production of Wicked, which began on June 27, 2008. The 18th of November in 2008 marked the conclusion of her second run, and she was succeeded by Robertson once more. After that, she played Mattie Fae Aiken again in the London production of August: Osage Country, and then she played Madame Morrible again in the Broadway version of Wicked.

She began performances on March 17, 2009, succeeding Jayne Houdyshell, and she stepped down from her role as the wicked headmistress on June 27, 2010, so that she could star in the Australian version of August in Sydney. From August 13 through September 25, 2010, the exhibition was presented as part of a limited engagement. She made her way back to the cast of “Wicked” in New York City on July 31, 2017, and remained there until January 28, 2018.

She had a role in the episode of Seinfeld titled “The Kiss Hello,” which was initially broadcast on February 16, 1995. She played Peggy Biggs, Mike’s mother, on the sitcom Mike & Molly, which was shown on CBS. She was also seen on Roseanne playing the role of Jackie’s therapist. Throughout her career, she maintained a steady affiliation with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

She also played leading roles on Broadway in productions such as “The Rise and Fall of Little Voice” and “The Grapes of Wrath.” She attended Illinois State University and was born in Dixon, Illinois. She has a degree in education. On the series Mike & Molly, in which Melissa McCarthy also appeared, she played the role of Mike’s mother.
