Rizwan Ahmed is a British actor and rapper who initially came to public attention with his very first film, a documentary-drama titled “The Road to Guantánamo.” Ahmed is also known for his rapping. As a youngster who was raised in a household of Pakistani immigrants of the first generation, he had to contend with a significant amount of bigotry. Despite the fact that their life started to alter as an increasing number of immigrants came to live in their community, racial prejudice continued to be a part of their existence.
Nevertheless, he was a talented student who started acting while he was still in grade school. He continued acting throughout his time at Christ College in Oxford before enrolling in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He launched his acting career in the same year that he graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has been nominated for and won a number of acting prizes over his career, including an Academy Award; in addition, he is a well-known rapper and has released two studio albums throughout his career.
In addition to this, he is well known for his work as an activist. He has been open and honest about the bad stereotypes that are associated with Muslims, and he has raised both awareness and funding for refugees from Syria and Rohingya. Rizwan Ahmed was born on the 1st of December 1982 in the English district of Wembley, which is situated in the northwest of London. There is not a lot of information available about his family, but we do know that his father worked as a shipping broker, that his brother Kamran Ahmed is a doctor, and that his sister worked as an attorney. They made the move to the UK at some point in the 1970s.
He attended schools located outside of the region during his whole schooling and completed his secondary education at Merchant Taylors’ School (MTS), Northwood, on a scholarship, despite the fact that he was a frequent winner of assistant seats and scholarships. Because a large number of pupils at this school were from Asian homes of middle-class economic status, he found it easier to adapt.
At MTS, there were constant fights breaking out between the many student organizations, and he eagerly participated in them. However, one day his instructor stopped him and told him, “If you can mess about on stage, you get a clap for it, not a suspension.” Very quickly after that, he became a member of the school drama club and loved every minute of it.
When he joined Christ Church, Oxford University to pursue his degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, he was in for a rude awakening about the local culture (PPE). In the beginning, he struggled greatly with depression and isolation, and he was unable to adapt to the culture of Oxford, which he described as being “extremely classical and white.”
He gave the theatrical society a go, but he still felt like an outsider there as well due to the fact that he spoke and dressed differently from the majority of his fellow college students. During the time when he was considering withdrawing from the university, a fresh inspiration came to him, and he immediately began planning a club night dubbed “Hit and Run.”Hit and Run quickly became a gathering place for those who did not belong to the preexisting, elite-dominated society from the very beginning. They started mounting a variety of plays, such as “Jesus Hopped the A Train,” quite quickly after that.
In addition to that, he joined Confidential Collective, a jazz-house and electronica ensemble that consists of twelve musicians. After graduating from Oxford, he was prepared to launch an acting career of his own. As a result, after completing his studies in physical preparation and exercise, he enrolled in the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama to pursue training in acting. He eventually earned his degree from that institution, likely in 2006.
ARIZhmed got his start in the acting world with a docudrama called The Road to Guantánamo in 2006. He played the role of Shafiq Rasul in the film. In the fall of 2005, the film was shot in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. It had its premiere on Channel 4, where it was seen by 1.6 million people. Also in 2006, he made appearances in two additional television productions, the first of which was a miniseries titled The Path to 9/11, which is a dramatization of the events leading up to the attack on September 11, 2001. The miniseries consisted of two parts, and each part was broadcast separately. The other one is a movie made specifically for television called Berry’s Way.
Equally active in the musical world, he established his own independent record label, Battered Records, in 2006. That same year, he also created a satirical rap single called “Post 9/11 Blues,” which earned him a victory at the 2006 Asian Music Awards. The next year would see the release of his second single, which was a garage rap tune titled “People Like People.”In 2007, he had the release his fourth effort, which was a two-part television drama film called Britz. In the film, he played the role of Sohail Wahid. The next year, in 2008, came the release of Shifty, in which he played the lead part. On the small screen, he has appeared in both Wired and Dead Set, playing the roles of Manesh Kunzru and Riq Rahman, respectively.
In 2008, he also released his third song under the moniker Radar. It would be followed by two further singles the next year, namely Shifty and Don’t Sleep, and then by Hundreds and Thousands and Get on it in the following year. After that, he released his first studio album, titled Microscope, in January 2011. In the meanwhile, he resumed his acting career, playing roles such as Vijay in Rage (2009), Omar in Four Lions (2010), and Tarak in Centurion (2013). 2011 saw the release of not one but two more of his films, Black Gold and Trishna, in which he starred in leading roles.
