Ray William Johnson was born on August 14, 1981, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended local schools and in 1999 received his diploma from Norman North High. His entire formative years were spent there. After graduating from high school in 1999, Ray continued his education at Columbia University, where he majored in history. Ray’s development curve dropped for the first time in years as the quality of his content and videos declined further in the wake of his dispute with Maker Studios. Ray then moved on to making a five-part video series titled “Riley Rewind.” This series debuted exclusively on Facebook, where it has since gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews from both audiences and critics. As of the year 2022, he has more than 7.7 million followers on Facebook. Concurrently, he and his then-girlfriend Anna Akana created a podcast called Runaway Thoughts. As a result of its success, the podcast was named one of the best podcasts of 2013 by Variety. Ray has kept himself quite active in the years since, releasing a plethora of works under his name.
As an actor, director, writer, and producer, among other roles, he has contributed to several productions. He has created and hosted a number of popular TV shows, including “Top 6 Comedians on,” “Date Debate,” and “Booze Lightyear.” In addition to the projects he has overseen as the head of his own production firm, Ray has contributed to a wide range of studio productions. His voice can be heard as Boba Fett in “Marker Studio’s Epic Rap Battles of History,” and he also plays the part of Goku in its video game adaptation.
