Randall Park Bio

Randall Park is a well-known American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He was born on March 23, 1974 in the United States. It was for his performance as Louis Huang in the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat (2015–2020) that he received a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Television Award in the category of Best Actor in a Comedy Series in the year 2016. He is particularly well-known for this character.

Before taking on these important roles, Park rose to prominence for his performance as Steve, a joke replacement for Jim Halpert (also known as “Asian Jim”) in an episode of the NBC sitcom The Office. Additionally, he starred in the recurring character of Governor Danny Chung in the HBO comedy series Veep.

In addition, he directed the comedy-drama film Shortcomings (2023) and co-starred in the romantic comedy film Always Be My Maybe (2019), which was first released on Netflix. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the film. Many online shows, such as Dr. Miracles and IKEA Heights, have included him as a guest star on Channel 101. A few short films produced by Wong Fu Productions have also included him in a role.

Agent Jimmy Woo was a character that Park played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), the miniseries WandaVision (2021), and the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Additionally, Park played a future version of himself in the 2021 Dwayne Johnson autobiographical comedy series Young Rock.

In the comedy film The Interview, he played the role of Kim Jong Un, the ruler of North Korea. Additionally, he played the role of Dr. Stephen Shin in the DC Extended Universe flicks Aquaman (2018) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Park attended UCLA for the autumn quarter of 1993.

During his time as a student, he was one of the co-founders of “Lapu, the Coyote that Cares,” which is now known as the LCC Theatre group. This theater group is the biggest and longest-running Asian American theatrical organization on campus. He attributed his motivation to pursue acting professionally to the experiences he had while attending LCC, and he would go on to work with a significant number of the school’s former students.

It was in the Northwest Auditorium that they gave their debut performance of Treehouse Bachelor Society, which was a full-length play that Park had written themselves. In his capacity as a student volunteer with UCLA UniCamp, the university’s official charitable organization, Park was known by the camp moniker “CareMoose.”

Together with a few other former students of LCC, he established the Propergander theatrical ensemble. Michael Golamco, who was also a co-founder of the LCC, was the one who put on their first show, which was The Achievers, in the year 2001. It was during this time that Park started doing stand-up comedy for fun in his garden during Propergander concerts. Later on, he would perform with comic Ali Wong, and he recognized Mike Birbiglia and Mitch Hedberg as early contributors to his artistic development.

Vivian Bang, Tim Chiou, and Eddie Shin are a few more noteworthy graduates of this institution. Park, Shin, and Naoya Imanishi, who was also a co-founder of LCC, were also members of the improv group known as “The Legendary Stage Ninjaz,” which was a short-lived group. Comedian Ali Wong was also a member of this group. In 2003, Park made his debut in the film industry by playing the main role in the short film Dragon of Love, which became the winner of the award for Best Short Film at the Hawaii International Film Festival.

In the feature film American Fusion, which was directed by Frank Lin, a graduate of UCLA, Park not only appeared but also contributed to the writing of the film. The film was awarded the Audience Award at the Hawaii International Film Festival in 2005. It was the last part that actor Pat Morita would do before he passed away in November of that same year. During the 2009 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, the screenplay was considered for a quarter-finalist position.

During the early stages of his career, when Park did not have a talent agency, he managed to get jobs by participating in diversity showcases hosted by various television networks. He had an appearance on the CBS Diversity Showcase in the year 2006. To supplement his income, he worked at Starbucks when he was 32 years old and was a cast member on the MTV show Wild ‘n Out.

As a result of the Great Recession that occurred in the United States in 2008 and the possibility of a strike by SAG-AFTRA at the beginning of 2009, Park was unable to find employment in 2009. As a result, he decided to concentrate on his projects during this period. Awarded for Best Actor at the NBC Shortcuts Film Festival for Short Films in 2010, he was the writer of the short film Blueberry, which was also the recipient of the prize.

Within the context of Wong Fu Productions, Park has worked together on several projects. Previously, he has made appearances as Brandon in the comedic sketch Too Fast (2010) and as the stepfather in the online series Home Is Where the Hans Are (2012). Both of these roles take place on the Internet. Park’s most recent role was that of a Department of Defense Intelligence agent in the feature film Everything Before Us (2015) and the short film that accompanied it.

There was a short cameo appearance as himself in Asian Bachelorette 2, as well as an appearance as Asian Santa in the comic piece Why is Santa Asian? His work with Channel 101 includes the creation of various short online programs, including Dr. Miracles, The Food, IKEA Heights, and Dumb Professor, as well as his directing, writing, and acting roles in those series. It was in 2013 that he developed and acted in a series for Channel 101 called Baby Mentalist, which included his daughter, who was still a baby at the time.
