Rag’n’Bone Man Bio

Rag’n’Bone was born on January 29, 1985, in Uckfield, East Sussex, England. Rag’s father was a musician, and his enthusiasm for the art form rubbed off on his son. His dad was a musician who enjoyed listening to and playing guitar. As a result, Rag grew up hearing a wide range of musical styles.

He began performing as an MC and singer with a local drum and bass group when he was just five years old. He found motivation from his favorite sitcom, “Steptoe and Son,” during those formative years. While at school, he explored many other artistic pursuits, including gardening and painting. He did not, however, excel academically. He was a naughty and unruly youngster who showed no interest in school. His education was cut short at “King’s Academy Ringmer,” but he was able to finish it at “Uckfield Community Technical College” in his hometown.

His devotion to music only deepened throughout the years. He got involved with various neighborhood bands and studied the fundamentals of music. His musical ambitions were supported, so he relocated to Brighton. Rag quickly became a member of “Rum Committee,” a rap crew founded by his pal Gi3mo. “Rum Committee” helped launch the careers of numerous up-and-coming musicians. Rag’s career took off after he was accepted into the band. Singer and songwriter Rory Charles Graham is better known by his stage name, Rag’n’Bone Man.

His breakthrough song “Human” went double platinum in the United Kingdom and platinum in the United States. This song originally appeared on Rag’s breakthrough album, Human. Rag, who grew up in East Sussex, has been passionate about music ever since he was a kid. Subsequently, he collaborated with a number of up-and-coming musicians as part of a rap group called “Rum Committee.”

When Rag first started out, he was a big hit at the bars and youth centers near his childhood home in Uckfield. Other lesser-known artists, including Vince Staples, Skunk Anansie, and Kate Tempest, remained among his ongoing collaborations. When he obtained a record deal with “Columbia Records” in 2016, it was a huge boost to his career. The release of his first song, July 2016’s “Human,” was met with widespread acclaim. Rag received a number of awards with the release of his self-titled album in early 2017.

Rag’s time spent with the “Rum Committee” was also used to hone his other musical abilities. He didn’t want to be typecast as a rap artist. Rag’s father encouraged his son’s dreams, and by the time Rag was 19, he had played at a blues open mic. The audience was moved by his baritone voice, and they applauded wildly after his performance. In 2012, he completed his first EP, titled “Bluestown EP,” with producer Gi3mo. The bluesy hip-hop hybrid was popular at the bars and nightclubs in the area. After putting out an EP, Rag was able to attract a respectable following.

A contract with the indie label High Focus soon followed. Rag collaborated with other artists under the terms of the contract, including Leaf Dog and Dirty Dike. He collaborated with them on records in 2013 and 2014 before forming a new musical partnership with superstar producer Mark Crew. Mark was a well-known figure in the UK music industry and had been touring and recording with the band Bastille when he contacted Rag. By that time, ‘Warner Chappell,’ an American record label, had also shown interest in Rag and offered him a contract.

Rag’s debut full-length, Wolf, was published in 2014. It was a joint effort between the two of them and “Best Laid Plan Records” released it. Nine songs were included on the album, and it featured then-emerging artists including Vince Staples, Stig of the Dump, and Kate Tempest.
On their third extended play, VS, Bastille featured Rag in a song titled “Remains.” Rag’s popularity in the UK increased as a result of this.
Columbia Records quickly signed Rag. Because of their partnership, rags became a global phenomenon. Rag released a single in July 2016 titled “Human,” which skyrocketed to prominence almost immediately. It was awarded gold in numerous countries around Europe, where it debuted at number one on the album charts.

The creators of the “Oasis” series on “Amazon Prime” decided to use the song as the series’ main theme. The computer game “Mass Effect: Andromeda” also included the song during its trailer debut, and the television shows “Into the Badlands” and “Inhumans” also featured the song. Rag’s full-length album, titled “Human,” was released in February of 2017. I

n addition to the album’s hit lead single “Human,” the track “Skin” also did very well. Mark Crew, Johnny Coffer, and Two Inch Punch were among the other musicians included on the record.

After its initial release, the record quickly gained widespread acclaim around the globe. It was the fastest-selling male debut album of the decade, and its first week of release saw it shoot to the top of the UK Albums Chart. The album received mixed reviews from reviewers, but it was a huge hit with fans all around the globe.

In the 2017 Will Smith film Bright, which premiered on Netflix around the world, Rag performed the song “Broken People.” Rag also made an appearance in the video for the lead track “The Apprentice” off of Gorillaz’s fifth studio album “Humanz.” The globe responded positively to Rag’n’Bone Man’s self-titled debut album.

Rag was both the “British Breakthrough Artist” and the “Choice Award” winner at the Brit Awards in the same year. During the ‘MTV European Music Awards,’ he was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Push Artist, and he ultimately won both. At the German ‘Echo Awards in 2017, he took home both the ‘International Male Artist’ and ‘International Newbie trophies. In France, the ‘Human’ single earned him the ‘NRJ Music Award’ for International Breakout Talent.
