R5 was a Los Angeles, California-based pop rock band formed in 2009. Ross Lynch (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Riker Lynch (bass guitar/vocals), Rocky Lynch Rydel Lynch (keyboard/vocals), and Ellington Ratliff (drums/vocals) were the members of the band.At the age of 16, Riker decided to relocate to Los Angeles in order to pursue an acting career.
Mark and Stormie, their parents, relocated the entire family there in order to remain together. The siblings began appearing in commercials shortly after the move, and Rocky began teaching himself, Ross, and Riker how to play guitar. In 2009, R5 formally formed the band and launched their YouTube web series, R5 TV, which chronicles the band’s daily life and career start. Louder was released on September 24, 2013 and quickly climbed to number two on the iTunes charts, earning it a spot on the iTunes End of the Year Album list as a “chart-topper.” On December 25, 2013, Louder released their third single, “(I Can’t) Forget About You,” and shortly thereafter, the band’s official video was made available via the band’s website. On April 5, they announced the release of their fourth EP, New Addictions, on May 12, 2017. The EP features the single “If,” the originals “Red Velvet,” “Lay Your Head Down,” and “Trading Time,” as well as a cover of INXS’s 1987 single “Need You Tonight.” The new single Hurts Good was released shortly after New Addictions. Additionally, the band announced the New Addictions Tour, which will begin in the United States on June 17, 2017 and will include stops in Mexico, Europe, and South America.
