Bio

Patton Oswalt is a stand-up comedian and actor. He has made appearances in a number of popular comedic series as well as films. Additionally, he is the creator of his own successful comedy CDs. Patton, whose father was a Marine Corps commander, did not seem like the kind of person who would pursue a career in comedy, but that is exactly what he was meant to do. When he was a kid, his favourite things to do were to read comic books and watch scary movies.

In addition, he had an appreciation for humour from a young age and looked up to comedic performers such as Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and Jonathan Winters for motivation. He started writing and performing humour when he was still in high school, and he quickly came to the conclusion that comedy should be his career. Even though he was still in school, he launched his career as a stand-up comedian by beginning to do humorous performances at low-key venues.

He started his profession while he was still in school. It was pure coincidence that brought him together with Blaine Capatch, who would go on to become his long-term friend and business partner. Together with Capatch, he uprooted his life and travelled to Los Angeles with the hope of pursuing a career in writing and performing comedy. Initially, he was only able to get supporting parts in various television series.

His major break came when he was chosen to portray ‘Spence Olchin’ in ‘The King of Queens.’ He had been steadily working his way up to increasingly significant parts as time went on. After that, things started looking up for him professionally, and he eventually achieved the kind of success as a comedian that he had always envisioned for himself.

Patton Oswalt was born to Larry Oswalt and Carla, his wife, in Portsmouth, Virginia, in the United States of America on January 27, 1969. Because Larry was an officer in the United States Marine Corps, his family relocated somewhat often due to the nature of his job. He received his diploma from Virginia’s ‘Broad Run High School in the year 1987 after attending that institution.

In 1988, he performed his first stand-up comedy act at an open mic in Washington, District of Columbia. Soon after, he launched his comedic career by playing in local bars and clubs in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. In 2005, he married Michelle Eileen McNamara, and the couple now has a kid together. McNamara passed away peacefully while sleeping in Los Angeles, California, on April 21, 2016. On February 27, 2018, he published his book, which is titled “I Will Be Gone in the Dark.”

In November 2017, he tied the knot with actress Meredith Salenger. In 2013, he participated in a demonstration against the practice of chaining pet dogs via his work with PETA. He met the promising comedian Blaine Capatch when he was playing in the clubs, and the two of them quickly became fast friends. In 1992, the two individuals decided to make the journey to San Francisco to seek their fortunes there. In 1994, they relocated to Los Angeles after relocating from San Francisco.

In 1995, Oswalt was able to get a position as a writer for the brand-new comedy programme titled “MAD TV.” After working there for a total of two seasons, he made his debut on the HBO Half-Hour Comedy Hour in the year 1997. In 1998, he was given a major break when he was cast in the supporting role of “Spencer “Spence” Olchin” in the immensely successful comedy “The King of Queens.” Up to 2007, he appeared in 122 episodes as this character.

In the animated children’s television series ‘Kim Possible,’ which aired from 2003 to 2007, he provided the voice of ‘Professor Dementor’ in a total of 10 episodes. During the decade of the 2000s, he was also employed as a voice actor in a number of different television series. In the television comedy series ‘Reno 911!,’ he provided the voices of a number of characters between the years 2004 and 2009, including the roles of ‘Dungeon Master,’ ‘Kenny Rogers,’ ‘Assassin,’ and ‘Boozehammer of Galen.’

After making cameo appearances in movies during the 1990s and early 2000s, he was given the chance to provide his voice to the character of Remy, a young rat who is idealistic and ambitious, in the animated comedy film Ratatouille in the year 2007. In the animated children’s television series WordGirl, which debuted in 2007, he provided the voices for a number of additional characters, including “Tobey,” “Robot,” “4th Grader,” and “Irate Driver.” The vast English language and its vocabulary will be introduced to the audience of young children during the course of the presentation.

In the television comedy-drama series ‘United States of Tara,’ which aired from 2009 to 2011, he had a recurring role as ‘Neil’ and featured in a total of 21 episodes. The plot of the programme centred on a middle-aged lady living in the suburbs who struggles with a dissociative identity disorder. Both of his comedy albums, “My Weakness is Strong” (2009) and “Finest Hour” (2011), were tremendously successful and reached the top spot on the “U.S. Top Comedy Album Chart” in their respective years.

His performance as “Matt Freehauf” in the 2011 comedy-drama “Young Adult” is widely considered to be his most iconic film role. Charlize Theron was another one of the stars of the movie. His performance was lauded, and he was recognised for it with a number of honours and nominations. Between the years 2012 and 2018, he had roles in a wide variety of films, including “Nature Calls,” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Freaks of Nature,” “The Confirmation,” “The Circle,” and “Nostalgia.” In the film “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” which was released in 2019, he took over for Louis C.K. as the voice of the primary character, “Max.”
