In the year 2002, Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins were the two individuals that were responsible for the establishment of OneRepublic. While they were both seniors in high school in Colorado Springs, they met one other and quickly became friends. So, at the age of 19, he embarked on a journey to Nashville in order to educate himself on the many skills necessary to become a successful composer. “I had the opportunity of watching all these artists moving through and seeing which ones worked and which ones didn’t,” he continued. “I had the privilege of observing which ones worked and which ones didn’t.” I saw those who were successful as well as those that were unsuccessful. “It came as a surprise to me that the only people who have great professions are those who write wonderful melodies,” you said. Timbaland, who had heard Ryan perform around that time on MTV, contacted him with the idea of entering into a production deal and the possibility of working together with him in Miami.
After parting ways with Ryan and disbanding the musical project they had been working on together, Zach made the decision to enroll in a college in the state of Illinois and get a degree in aeronautical engineering there. On the other hand, the musician who began teaching himself to play the guitar when he was seven years old discovered that his excitement for the instrument was developing. By the year 2003, the two of them had settled down in the state of Colorado. After taking every conceivable step to mitigate the probable adverse effects of creating a band, the two individuals moved to Los Angeles and picked up where they left off in their musical partnership.
After another nine months of waiting, Columbia Records extended an offer for a recording deal to the band. Before settling on the present arrangement, they went through a few lineup changes, which resulted in the band now consisting of Ryan on lead vocals, Zach on guitar and backing vocals, Eddie Fisher on drums, Brent Kutzle on bass and cello, and Drew Brown on guitar. Drew Brown plays guitar. They once went by the name Republic, but after a while, they switched to being known as OneRepublic.
