Negahban was born on June 2nd, 1968 in the city of Mashhad, which is located in Iran. Nobody knows who Negahban’s parents are, where he went to school, or why he decided to be an actor. Neither of these things is known either. It is well known that Negahban earned his first job in front of the camera in the year 2000. At that time, he was cast as a trombonist in the comic short film titled Boundaries. Negahban had his first significant part in 2011 when he was cast as Abu Nazir, a terrorist who was accused of turning Nicholas Brody against his nation, for a total of twenty episodes of the popular espionage thriller series Homeland.
Negahban has also made guest appearances on a variety of television programs, films, and video games. Negahban has made guest appearances on a number of television shows, including The Shield, The West Wing, Lost, and CSI: Miami. Necar Zadegan, an Iranian-American actress, and he have worked together on two separate occasions, the first time in 24 and the second time in CSI: Miami. He worked with Mozhan Marn, an additional Iranian-American actress. In both of these projects, he played Marn’s character Soraya’s husband.
In the survival horror game Dead Space, which was released in 2008, Negahban contributed his voice as well as his likeness to the character of Dr. Challus Mercer. In the highly acclaimed television series Homeland, he also had a recurring role as the terrorist mastermind Abu Nazir. At the Noor Iranian Film Festival in 2011, he was given the award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2009 Iranian short film, Liberation. The following year, he went back to the festival to serve as an official festival judge.
In February of 2015, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety confirmed that Negahban had begun filming the spy thriller, Damascus Cover, which was based on the novel written by Howard Kaplan. Negahban played the role of Syrian General Sarraj in the film. Other cast members included Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Olivia Thirlby, and John Hurt. Both the 2018 war drama 12 Strong and the 2019 live-action rendition of Aladdin include Negahban in starring roles. In the former, he played the role of General Abdul Rashid Dostum, while in the latter, he played the Sultan.
Other major theatrical releases, such as Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” Lionsgate’s “About My Father,” starring Sebastian Maniscalco and Robert De Niro, and Sony’s “The Machine,” an action comedy, will also be in theatres over the holiday weekend. The feature film will be directed by Ric Roman Waugh.
The plot of Kandahar, which was written by Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh, centers on Tom Harris (Butler), an undercover CIA agent who finds himself trapped in a dangerous area in Afghanistan. After the failure of his mission, he and his Afghan interpreter will have to battle their way to a safe haven in Kandahar, all the while evading elite enemy troops and international spies who have been entrusted with tracking them down.
Other cast members include Navid Negahban, Ali Fazal, Travis Fimmel, and Elnaaz Norouzi. The action film Plane, which Butler starred in and is distributed by Lionsgate, can be seen in cinemas right now. It is already in its second week and has already made $20.7 million in revenue inside the United States. Back in September, Deadline was the first publication to inform you that Open Road had acquired Kandahar in a transaction that was eight figures long and in the low teens.
Kandahar, an action film starring Gerard Butler, will be released by Open Road during Memorial Day weekend. Ric Roman Waugh is the one who directed the feature film, and he worked with Mitchell LaFortune to write the screenplay. The actor and director team that previously collaborated on films such as “Angel Has Fallen” and “Greenland” are back together again for this film.
The plot of the film centers on Butler’s character, Tom Harris, an undercover CIA agent who becomes trapped in a dangerous region in Afghanistan. As soon as his objective is discovered, he is forced to flee while avoiding capture by elite enemy troops and spies from other countries on his route to an extraction location. The film was filmed in the Al-Ula area of Saudi Arabia, which served as the ideal backdrop for the action-packed new thriller that was being created.
Additionally, LaFortune’s own personal experiences as a military intelligence officer working amid the mayhem of the Snowden revelations are what set this feature film unique from other movies in the genre. This is another aspect that differentiates this film from others in the category. The film will present a particularly one-of-a-kind viewpoint on the firestorm that erupted in the middle of Edward Snowden’s intelligence revelations in 2013, given that this personal experience will be included in the film.
In addition to Butler, the film will also feature Navid Negahban, who is known for his roles in Homeland and Legion; Travis Fimmel, who is known for his role on Vikings; and Bollywood actors Ali Fazal and Elnaaz Norouzi. The recent success of Butler’s most recent action film, Plane, which was directed by Jean-Francois Richet, has him feeling on top of the world right now. The combination of skilled individuals working both in front of and behind the camera as well as a script that is both emotionally engaging and filled with exciting action helps to make this film a really original contribution to the field of action thrillers.
Open Road Films made a splashy eight-figure agreement to obtain the rights to produce the action movie in the United States a year ago. During that time, Tom Ortenberg, who works for Open Road Films, said that “Kandahar is an adrenaline trip that was built for the big screen.” Our team is excited to present this heart-pounding thriller to audiences all around the world since Gerry, Ric, the G-BASE crew, and Thunder Road have exceeded themselves with it. Basil Iwanyk, Brendon Boyea, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Christian Mercuri, Ali Jaafar, and Scott LaStaiti are the individuals responsible for producing the feature film.
