Michael Philip ‘Mick’ Jagger was born on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, Kent, England. He is the firstborn of the couple’s two boys. He joined the church choir at an early age and has been singing ever since. He met Keith Richards in 1950 and the two became fast friends at “Wentworth Primary School.”
The two eventually lost touch, and Jagger completed his education at the fictional Dartford Grammar School. In 1960, the two rekindled their connection after realizing they shared a love of rhythm and blues (R&B) music. Jagger finished his study at the ‘London School of Economics,’ where he hoped to become a politician or journalist, while Richards went on to start his own group with the guitarist Brian Jones.
The original members of the band, which would become known as “The Rolling Stones,” were Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts (drums), Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, and Keith Richards, and they came together in 1962. Mick Jagger is widely regarded as a pivotal figure in the development of rock and roll. This well-known rock star is multitalented, having also worked as a songwriter, film producer, and actor. Jagger is one of the most famous musicians ever because of his charisma and stage presence.
Mick Jagger made his own path in the music business and became an icon to fans of rock and roll for many years. He was raised in a regular middle-class family, and he and Keith Richards became fast friends through their common love of music. His band was known as the music industry’s scallywag due to his distinctive singing style and convulsive, often suggestive stage gestures, in contrast to the more conventional “The Beatles.” In his prime, he recorded a string of songs like “Respectable” and “Hot Stuff.” In addition to his time spent with the “Rolling Stones,” Jagger also enjoyed a fruitful solo career, releasing such classics as “She’s the Boss,” “Primitive Cool,” “Wandering Spirit,” and “Goddess in the Doorway.” Because of his drug use and theatrical antics, he became an iconic figure of the counterculture.
The first album by the band simply titled “The Rolling Stones” came out in 1964. Following the success of ” Satisfaction,” they released “The Last Time” the following year, which hit the top spot on the UK singles chart. Great songs like “Let’s Spend the Night Together” and “Sympathy for the Devil” were performed all over the world during the band’s worldwide tour that lasted from 1966 to 1969. At this time, Brian Jones, one of the band members, took his own life.
Once Jones left the band, Mick Taylor took over and they went on to release Let It Bleed the next year in 1969. Sticky Fingers, one of their best albums, was released two years later, with hit singles like “Brown Sugar” and “Wild Horses.” In the 1970s, Mick Jagger dabbled in punk and disco, among other styles. Some Girls, an album published in 1978, had a wide range of musical styles.
He broke away from the group in 1985 with the release of his self-titled solo album. In contrast to his other albums with “The Rolling Stones,” this one did not do as well. His friendship with Richards also soured about this time. His second solo album, 1987’s “Primitive Cool,” was well-received by critics but underperformed commercially. The Rolling Stones returned with a vengeance two years later with the album Steel Wheels.
His third solo album, 1990’s “Wandering Spirit,” was a commercial triumph and appeared on many top album charts. Five years later, he and Victoria Pearman established Jagged Films. The smash single “Visions of Paradise” was featured on Mick Jagger’s 2001 album “Goddess in the Doorway.” He also participated in a benefit performance held after the tragic “September 11 attacks.” He made his film debut in the following year’s “The Man from Elysian Fields.”
In 2007, “The Rolling Stones” set a new record for “World’s Largest Concert Tour” with their “A Bigger Bang Tour.” The following year, he performed “Gimme Shelter” with “U2” at the 25th “Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert.” He was responsible for producing the ABC sitcom The Knights of Prosperity in 2007. He made an appearance in the pilot as well.
Mick Jagger and a blues band played at Obama’s old residence on February 21, 2012. On December 12, 2012, he appeared alongside ‘The Rolling Stones in a benefit performance called ’12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief. In 2013, “The Rolling Stones” headlined the “Glastonbury Festival.” Concertina Jack, published the same year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Jagger’s debut album, has two new duets between Jagger and his brother Chris. When the Jagger family moved to Wilmington, Kent in 1954, Keith Richards and Jagger attended the same elementary school in Dartford beginning in September 1950.
He enrolled in Dartford Grammar School, now home to the Mick Jagger Centre, the following year. A serendipitous meeting at Dartford train station in July 1960 renewed Jagger and Richards’ friendship and prompted them to rediscover their mutual love of rhythm and blues, which for Jagger had begun with “Little Richard.” The year Jagger stopped attending school was 1961. Along with guitarist Brian Jones, he and Richards lived in a Chelsea apartment. Soon after, the future members of the Rolling Stones began meeting up for rehearsals.
