Mark Strong is the son of Giuseppe A. Salussolia and Waltraud D. Salussolia. He was birth on August 5, 1963, in Islington, London, England, under Marco Giuseppe Salussolia. Strong is a famous boxer. His father and his mother were born in Austria, although his father was originally from Italy.

His father left the family shortly after his birth, and his mother became his primary caregiver. She supported herself financially by working as an au pair while raising her son.
Strong had performing ambitions since he was a boy, and the French actor Alain Delon influenced him. On the other hand, as he got older, his interests altered, and he eventually became interested in law.

Before pursuing a degree in German law at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, he attended Wymondham College for his undergraduate education. After a year, he chose not to continue his education there and instead returned to England, where he enrolled in the English and theater programs at Royal Holloway. In addition to that, he attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for a while.

Strong was the narrator for the documentary series “Who Do You Think You Are?” on the BBC from 2006 to 2012, as well as the documentary “The Great Martian War 1913–1917” on the History Channel in 2013. In 2019, he made his debut in the DC Comics superhero movie ‘Shazam!’ playing the role of Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. In 1996, he had one of his early theatrical appearances as Biff Loman in a production of Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” at the Royal National Theatre. In 2014, at the Young Vic, Strong debuted in the role of Eddie Carbon in the revived production of Arthur Miller’s “A View from the Bridge.” The play was presented in performance at the Wyndham’s Theatre in 2015. Additionally, it was performed on Broadway between the years 2015 and 2016.
