It is commonly known that Linkin Park is a music band that is distinguished by its natural blending of many musical genres, which is in stark contrast to the music that most bands today would want to present. This phenomena characterises this band as a “hybrid,” both in terms of the genre of music they perform and in terms of their fan base. It was in 1996 when the rapper guitarist Brad Delson and the MC/vocalist Mike Shinoda formed a band named Xero, which would become the forerunner of Linkin Park. Their high school years were spent together, when they met Rob Bourdon, who would go on to become the band’s drummer. Subsequently on, while studying illustration at Art Center Graduation in Pasadena, Shinoda met DJ Joseph Hahn, who later became his partner.
Meanwhile, Delson, who was attending UCLA, shared a room with bassist Phoenix, who left the band after college and rejoined a year later. Mark Wakefield, the band’s lead singer, was to be the group’s last member to depart.Xero published a four-track demo tape at the start of their career, which included the songs “Fuse,” “Stick N’ Move,” “Rhinestone,” and “Reading My Eyes.” This was the group’s first release. Within a short period of time after Mark Wakefield departed the band, its remaining members came to an agreement to alter their name to Hybrid Theory, and Phoenix chose to quit the group in order to tour with another band known as the Snax. As soon as the two individuals departed, the remainder of the band continued to perform together, largely for entertainment purposes.
Later on, they signed with Zomba Music, which happened to be an opportunity that presented itself when they performed at The Whiskey Club in Los Angeles. And the moment had come for Chester Bennington, a singer who had been recording since he was 16 years old and his pitch notes were described as “excellent,” to fill the vacant spot on the band’s roster. Linkin Park’s particular vocal quality, which weaves inspirations as disparate as Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, and The Roots into an united whole, has been defined by the combination of Bennington’s singing skill with Shinoda’s MC-ing talent since Bennington’s replacement of Mark Wakefield. Linkin Park “want everything to come together without seeming forced,” argues Shinoda, and this is how they intend for it to happen.
Bennington’s presence had, as predicted, assisted the band in rocketing to prominence, as seen by the release of the six-track EP “Carousel, and One, Technique, Step up, High Voltage, and Part of Me” in the year 1999, which received a rousing reception from fans. As the band members became more well-known than before, they were forced to alter their band’s name due to legal complications. Linkin Park was picked as a result of the band’s “hybrid” spirit and its “hybrid” sound. Soon after, additional demos were recorded, and the search for a record label began in earnest. Linkin Park’s song was heard by Warner Records, who loved it and signed them to their label, and thus the narrative started. Linkin Park published their first album, “Hybrid Theory,” in October 2000.
The album has multiple songs, such as “One Step Closer,” “Crawling,” and “In The End,” which helped the record to achieve platinum status eight times over. There’s something particularly noteworthy about this album that has allowed it to reach such success: it has a distinct trend set up that does not include any swears or swear words, which is a result of the band’s commitment to compose honest lyrics. As a result, they refrain from including any profanity that will unquestionably detract from the song itself; rather, Linkin Park strives to provide their listeners with music that they can listen to over and over again and appreciate again.
In the middle of 2002, the band went into the studio to record their second album. Finally, one year later, the single “Meteora” was published and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was much anticipated, and it exceeded expectations by selling 810,000 copies in its first week, eventually selling 11 million copies worldwide. Rather of hanging around for too long, the band issued a DVD/CD titled “Live in Texas.” Following a successful tour to promote the record, the band took a break in 2005 to devote their time to charitable endeavors and community service. In 2004, the band founded Music for Relief, a non-profit organization committed to assisting individuals who had been devastated by the tsunami. Because of a contract dispute between the band and its record company, Warner Bros., each member has been working on their own projects. Fortunately, as soon as the situation was resolved, the group returned to the studio to begin work on the third album. The album “Minutes to Midnight” was released on May 15, 2007, with the first song “What I’ve Done” being published on April 2, 2007.
Following the release of “Minutes to Midnight,” Linkin Park did not release another album. In 2008, they went on a tour dubbed “Projekt Revolution,” which was a success. The band performed across Europe and the United States before ending off their tour in Texas.
While working on their fourth studio album, Linkin Park released a song in 2009 named “New Divide,” which served as the music for the film “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” They followed it up with the release of a mobile game titled “8-Bit Rebellion” before ultimately releasing “A Thousand Suns” on September 14th, which included the main single “The Catalyst.” A documentary clip called “Meeting of A Thousand Suns” was uploaded on MySpace in order to promote the album, and it depicted the band’s creative process while creating the album.
Despite the fact that Linkin Park did not produce an album in 2011, the rock band did their bit to raise money for the victims of the Haitian earthquake by releasing a song titled “Not Alone.” Shinoda stated on April 15, 2012, that the band’s fifth studio album will be titled “Living Things,” as the record would be about individuals and intimate connections. The album was released on April 15, 2012. After selling 223,000 copies in its first week of release, the aforementioned album quickly rose to the top of the U.S. Pop charts, where it remained for many weeks.
On September 12th of the same year, the band worked with Steve Aoki to create the music “A Light That Never Comes,” which served as the official track for their online puzzle-action game “LP Recharge,” which was also published that day. The band Linkin Park issued a remix album on October 23 named “Recharged” in order to promote the game. In all, twelve tracks from the album “Living Things” have been remixed for this project.
