Lindsey Adams Buckingham is an American musician and record producer who was born on October 3, 1949. He is most known for his time spent as the main guitarist and co-lead vocalist for the band Fleetwood Mac between the years 1975 and 1987, as well as between 1997 and 2018. After recording seven demos in 1972 on a half-inch 4-track Ampex recorder maintained at his father’s coffee-roasting facility in Daly City, Buckingham, and his then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks traveled to Los Angeles to chase a recording contract. The two were given recording contracts by Polydor Records in 1973.
Buckingham Nicks was the name of their studio album, which was released in September 1973. The album was produced by Keith Olsen and second engineer Richard Dashut. However, shortly after the album’s release, Polydor terminated the pair due to poor sales of the album. Buckingham went on tour with Don Everly’s backup band, singing Phil Everly’s parts, so that he might bring in some extra money.
