Leeteuk was born on July 1, 1983, in Seoul, South Korea. He was Park Yong-in and Yoo Sook-younger young’s son. He has not been reticent in voicing his thoughts on how he sees his parents’ marriage. His older sister, Park In-young, is a singer and actress in her own right. Upon his graduation from high school, he enrolled in Paekche Institute of the Arts before transferring to Inha University in Incheon.
In the early 2000s, he was on vacation with his sister in Myeongdong when he was seen by a talent scout from SM Entertainment. After a successful audition, he was given the opportunity to join the talent agency as a trainee. In the same year, he appeared in an uncredited role on the MBC drama All About Eve, and the next year, he launched a brief modeling career for Pepsi.
SM Entertainment’s original plan was to debut him alongside his eventual bandmate Donghae as a member of the boy band Smile. Other than the four members already mentioned, the group originally planned to incorporate three more in order to better compete with TVXQ. However, the idea was scrapped, and Park and Donghae joined together with ten other lads to form the rotating group now known as Super Junior’05. Current members of the K-pop boy bands Super Junior, Super Junior-T, and Super Junior-H all feature him.
Using his stage name, “Leeteuk,” can help you spot him more quickly. However, this plan was scrapped, and Park is now one of twelve boys who make up the rotating group known as “Super Junior.” He was given the responsibility of leading the other trainees because of the age gap between him and them.
They made their first public appearance on the SBS music program “Popular Songs” in 2005, and the show’s viewers responded so positively that they quickly recorded their debut album. It turned out to be another big triumph for the firm. Since then, ‘Super Junior’ has risen to prominence as one of the most iconic K-pop acts of all time, racking up four consecutive years as the industry’s top-selling act.
Within and beyond the group, Leeteuk has become a major star. He’s had success as a solo artist, in movies, on TV, and as a host for a number of different programs. These factors have helped propel him to stardom.
Former members of Super Junior’05 include Heechul, Hangeng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kibum. Besides Key, Leeteuk and Donghae were also original members. Their debut performance was on November 6, 2005, when they debuted the song “Twins.” The band’s first studio album, named “Twins,” was released on December 5, a full month later.
After its initial release, it quickly rose to the third spot on the monthly MIAK K-pop album rankings. In 2006, when SM Entertainment first tried to expand the group by adding new members through a rotational arrangement, they were faced with strong fan backlash. The talent agency caved to the pressure from the audience and scrapped the initiative. After adding Kyuhyun as their thirteenth member, the group chose to drop the ’05 and return to their original moniker, Super Junior.
From 2006 until 2011, he co-hosted the KBS Super Junior radio show “Kiss The Radio” with Eunhyuk. In 2016, he appeared on the show for a few minutes to present a guest section. He joined the trot-singing offshoot of Super Junior known as Super Junior-T in February of 2007. A year later, Leeteuk joined the bubblegum pop group Super Junior-H and presented the SBS programs Star King’ and ‘Strong Heart. After Seungri of Big Bang left MBC’s “Enjoy Today” in 2010, he took over the role. He took over as host of the show in this role.
He signed up on October 30, 2012, for the mandatory military service that would begin with five weeks of basic training and continue into a 21-month tour of active duty. His service in the military ended on July 29, 2014. He made his comeback to the entertainment industry and the band with his performance at Music Bank with Super Junior. Along with Suho and Kassy, as well as songwriter Cho Young-soo, he released the single “My Hero” in June of 2016.
The song was written to honor South Korean athletes who had participated in Olympic competitions in the past. On March 12, 2009, Super Junior, a popular Japanese boy band, released their third studio album, titled “Sorry, Sorry.” The album was a commercial and critical success, topping the charts in South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan, and earning the Disk Daesang award for Album of the Year at the 24th Golden Disk Awards in 2009. Leeteuk performed the album’s title track alongside members of BTS, Twice, and Gfriend at the 2016 DMC Festival.
In 2006, Super Junior won the Newcomer of the Year award at the Golden Disc Awards. Since 2004, South Korea has hosted the annual Asia Song Festival, and the band has taken home three victories there. In 2007, they won the Appreciation Award; in 2009, they won the Asian Best Group Award; and in 2011, they won the Highest Asia Singer Award.
For his work as a co-host on the shows “Strong Heart” and “Star King,” Leeteuk was honored with the SBS Entertainment Award for Best Newcomer in 2009 and the SBS Entertainment Award for Excellence in 2011. The band’s live performance in 2013 earned them the title of “Best Live Act” at the Global Music Awards. The band won two awards at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards: Favorite International Artist and Choice Fandom.
