Lee Majors was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on April 23, 1939. Carl Yeary, Lee’s father, was a construction worker who tragically lost his life on the job. Alice Yeary, a housewife, was killed in a car accident when he was only two years old. When Lee was a toddler, his uncle Harvey Yeary and aunt Mildred Poore took him in. The man was taken to the home of his captors in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He found out he was adopted as a teenager and has since made it his mission to impress his adoptive parents.
Growing up, he always pictured himself as the head coach of a professional football team. He enrolled in football at Middlesboro High School. After high school, he was offered a football scholarship to “Indiana University,” which he accepted. In a game in 1959, after transferring to “Eastern Kentucky University” in Richmond, he injured his back and was crippled for the next six weeks.
He graduated from “Eastern Kentucky University” in 1962 with a double major in history and physical education. He received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2006 for his work in the discipline. He first became interested in acting and began playing at the “Pioneer Playhouse” in Danville, Kentucky. After he graduated from college, the St. Louis Cardinals came calling to sign him. Nonetheless, he moved to California and is now the city’s director of parks and recreation there.
While he was in Hollywood, he connected with other professionals in the entertainment industry, including agent Dick Clayton. He spent a year training for a career in the entertainment industry, first at Clayton’s acting school and then at Estelle Harman’s acting school at MGM. He was so inspired by Johnny Majors, a former football star, that he even changed his name to commemorate him. Lee Majors is a famous American film, TV, and voice actor. His roles as Heath Barkley in The Big Valley and Colonel Steve Austin in The Six Million Dollar Man made him a household name. His parents passed away when he was just two years old, and he was raised by his uncle and aunt on his father’s side. He entered this world in Wyandotte, Michigan.
Before sustaining a career-ending injury in college, he had always planned on coaching a football team. After working as a parks and recreation director in Los Angeles after finishing college, Lee Majors decided to pursue a career in acting at the age of 25. Lee Majors derived his stage name from Johnny Majors, a football star who was a childhood hero of his. His gradual rise to fame might be attributed to his numerous cameos in popular TV shows and box office smashes. After that, he became a frequent voice actor for the main characters in animated shows and video games.
In 1969, he played the major role in “The Ballad of Andy Crocker” for television. The lead role in “Midnight Cowboy” was offered to him the same year, but he declined it since “The Big Valley” was renewed for a second season. In 1970, he acted in William Wyler’s last picture, The Liberation of L.B. Jones. He played “Colonel Steve Austin,” a former astronaut who gains superhuman skills from bionic implants, in the 1973 ABC TV movie “The Six Million Dollar Man.”
The weekly ‘The Six Million Dollar Man series, which ran from 1974 to 1978, was met with critical acclaim all over the world. His show was seen by millions of people in more than 70 countries. Unfortunately, disagreements with “Universal Television” led to the cancellation of the show in 1978.
Lee attended Middlesboro High for four years of his secondary education. Interestingly, at the time, acting wasn’t even on his radar; he had his sights set squarely on the sporting world. When he finished high school back in 1957, he had a good enough GPA to win a full scholarship to attend Indiana University. Majors played football for the school for two years before transferring to Eastern Kentucky University. After a terrible mishap in his first game in 1960, Lee was unable to play for weeks. This ended his collegiate athletic career. Lee got better and kept working toward his goal of becoming an actor. He appeared in several shows at the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville, Kentucky. The seasoned actor graduated from college with a BA in 1962, where he studied history and physical education.
And it’s apparent that musical talent runs in the family with Dru Down as a third cousin. Dru Down is a multi-platinum recording artist that has brought attention to artists like Yukmouth and The Luniz. As the CEO of his own record label, Got Major Muzic, Lee has collaborated with numerous famous rappers behind the scenes. Lee Majors, as “Scraper King,” has worked with many different DJs, resulting in a myriad of mixtapes and guest appearances. These DJs include Rick Lee, Demolition Men, DJ Racks, DJ Backside, 100 Racks, and more. Excellent examples of musical pairings can be found on Dru Down Presents Cash Me Out and Dru Down Presents The House, which also features his cousin, Rahman. The Port Of Oakland, his second album with Dru Down, is also in the works.
Lee Majors has had a hectic year because of the success of “The Go-Bots,” an album by City Hall that features Bay Area Superstar The Jacka. They’re the most exciting pair in gangsta rap since the Luniz. The Go-Bots have given the music business a breath of fresh air by combining the skills of two established figures. Lee’s new DVD, “Ghetto Gumbo 2,” features recording sessions, live performances, and even street brawls with the Scraper King, who is at the center of the hyphy movement.
