Laura San Giacomo was born on November 14, 1962, in West Orange, New Jersey, USA, to parents John and Mary Jo San Giacomo, who owned a paper mill at the time. She attended Morris Knolls High School and later obtained a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. In the years following college, she relocated to New York, where she began appearing in plays such as “Wrong Turn” at Lungfish, “The Three Sisters,” and “The Beirut Project.”
As well as regional versions of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It,’ ‘The Tempest,’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ she has been in a number of other plays. Laura San Giacomo is a woman of Italian ancestry. She is the cousin of Torry Castellano, who is a member of the rock band The Donnas. He was married to actress Cameron Dye from 1990 to 1998, and they had two children. Their son Mason, who has cerebral palsy, is the couple’s only child. She has been married to actor Matt Adler since the year 2000.
Laura is a passionate supporter of philanthropic initiatives, particularly those that benefit people with disabilities. Among her many accomplishments is the founding of CHIME Charter Elementary School. This school in Woodland Hills, California, which opened its doors in 2001, provides free public education to children who are admitted through a lottery system. Laura San Giacomo is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Cynthia in the film ‘Sex, Lies, and Videotape,’ Kit De Luca in the film ‘Pretty Woman,’ and Maya Gallo in the NBC sitcom ‘Just Shoot Me.’ She was born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles.
Giacomo is a two-time Golden Globe Award nominee who is also well-known for his roles in the television dramas ‘Saving Grace’ and ‘NCIS.’ She was raised by her father, who owned a paper mill, and discovered her love of acting while in high school. As a result of her graduation from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, she went on to perform in a number of stage shows before landing jobs in cinema and television.
Throughout the years, the hardworking actress has been seen on both the little and large screens, taking on roles that are both tough and rewarding. The woman behind the curtain, Giacomo, is a mother of one who has been married twice. It was in the year 2000 that she tied the knot with actor Matt Adler, who would become her second husband. Giacomo enjoys a variety of activities outside of acting, including horseback riding, ice skating, gymnastics, ballet dancing, tennis, and golf.
Laura San Giacomo’s first television appearance was as a guest star in the crime drama ‘Crime Story’ in 1988. The next year, she landed the role of Cynthia Patrice Bishop in ‘Sex, Lies, and Videotape,’ an independent drama film about a troubled young man who secretly videotapes young women discussing their lives and sexual orientation. ‘Sex, Lies, and Videotape’ received very excellent reviews, earning Giacomo nominations for both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA awards for best-supporting actress for her work in the film. Her film roles included ‘Pretty Woman’, “Vital Signs,” “Quigley Down Under,” “Once Around,” and “Under Suspicion.”
She also appeared in the television series “Quigley Down Under.” Beautiful Woman was a smash hit at the box office, earning a total of $463 million worldwide in its first weekend. In the film ‘Where the Day Takes You,’ which was released in 1992, the actress performed the character of an interviewer. Two years later, she appeared in the television series ‘The Stand’ and also starred in the comedy film ‘Nina Takes a Lover,’ in which she played the major character. She then appeared as Lydia in the crime comedy thriller ‘Suicide Kings,’ in which she co-starred with Christopher Walken, Sean Patrick Flanery, Denis Leary, Johnny Galecki, and Jay Mohr, among others.
After starring in Jeff Hare’s feature film “Checking Out” in 2005, Giacomo went on to star in the crime drama “Havoc,” which follows the lives of wealthy Los Angeles teenagers who imitate a gangster lifestyle. Giacomo has also appeared in a number of television shows, including “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” and “The Bachelorette.” In 2006, she had an appearance in three episodes of the television series ‘Veronica Mars.’ The character of Rhetta Rodriguez in the television drama “Saving Grace” was played by her from 2007 and 2010.
During this time period, the actress also made guest appearances on three other television shows: ‘In Plain Sight,’ ‘The Defenders,’ and ‘Medium.’ In 2011, she appeared in a supporting part in the feature-length crime drama film ‘Few Options.’ The next year, in 2012, Giacomo starred as Jolene in the drama film ‘Least Among Saints,’ which was directed by, written by, and starred Martin Papazian, as well as notable actors such as Tristan Lake Leabu and Charles S. Dutton, among others.
Aside from being entertaining to watch, her television roles have also been enjoyable, as evidenced by her appearances on Just Shoot Me!, which was made even better by the presence of an excellent supporting cast, including David Spade, Wendie Malick, George Segal, and a number of other well-known actors as well as a number of guest stars, all of whom contributed to the show’s success. To say that she’s had a successful career and is still going strong would be accurate, but it would be an understatement of her accomplishments.
The character of the TV Mom in the film ‘The Meddler’ was given to American beauty by the casting director. The story revolves around an old and lonely widow who, along with her daughter, relocates to Los Angeles in the hopes of starting a new chapter in their lives. Despite the fact that she initially interferes in her daughter’s life, she finally ends up supporting other individuals who are in greater need of her assistance. Dr. Grace Confalone is Giacomo’s character in the drama series ‘NCIS,’ which she joined in 2016.
She began her role as Morgan Wilson in the television series ‘Animal Kingdom’ a year later. The role of Maya Gallo on NBC’s “Just Shoot Me” was portrayed by Giacomo from 1997 to 2003. “Just Shoot Me” was a sitcom about the staff of the fictional fashion magazine “Blush.” Her performance in the show garnered her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award as well as a nomination for a Satellite Award for Best Actress for her efforts. A poll to see who still remembers Laura San Giacomo and who would think you’re strange for asking about her would be intriguing.
As someone who rose to fame through theatrical acting and was briefly quite famous, it’s a little disheartening to think that she’s now relegated to being noticed just every now and again, but that’s what happens to some people as they grow older. She’s played a few characters that people can readily recall and know over her career, and it’s been a lot of fun to watch her in them, as she’s been a little over the top in some of them while being fantastic in other roles.
Laura is one of those actors who was brilliant for a decade and then cooled down for a time, just to keep moving forward and gradually gather the experience and wisdom that was required to keep her relevant and, at some point, make her even more interesting. Really though, this appears to be how her career has progressed: up and down in a very measured way that isn’t so increasingly negative that people wonder how she came to be so badly hurt, but it also hasn’t been shown that she has ever been one of the most prominent A-listers in Hollywood, despite the fact that she is an award-winning actress who has been around for quite some time.
The actress has had a number of memorable parts over her career, including her portrayal of Kit De Luca in the 1991 film Pretty Woman. She is well known for portraying Vivian’s (Julia Roberts’) unpredictable and impulsive roommate, as well as the woman who instructs Vivian on how to be a prostitute. Because Kit was Vivian’s best friend, but she also appeared to be a touch too wild at times, and even a little angry when it appeared that Vivian had become a little too upscale for her liking, this part was a bit of a strange fit.
But she did a good job in the role, and it was easy to believe that, as risky as Kit maybe, she was also the type of person who could be a terrific friend and someone who had Vivian’s best interests at heart on occasion. The following year, she starred with Tom Selleck in Quigley Down Under, where she played the role of Crazy Cora. If her character in Pretty Woman was eccentric and erratic, Cora was downright insane, as she was the type who couldn’t stop moving and who was definitely operating without all of the lights turned on upstairs. However, she did an excellent job of portraying the role and she was very believable.
One job, in particular, has to do with a miniseries called The Stand, which recently concluded its run on CBS All Access. Because she was a pill-popper and she met Larry Underwood in New York while they were both on their way out,. Some would argue that she performed slightly better than Amber Heard in certain aspects of the role, but there were a couple of instances in which Heard outperformed her simply because the two miniseries were enough different that they provided a little different experience overall.
When it came to the original miniseries, Nadine Cross didn’t have nearly as much screen time as other characters, and she wasn’t even close to being as welcomed by Mother Abigail as other characters. Since Nadine was still preferred by Randall Flagg, and she attempted to get Larry to accept her back, there were many parallels between the two women. Even though they were both quite similar, the original death scene was far less gruesome, and she said much more to Flagg before jumping from a balcony rather than shattering a window, thus it was worth mentioning.
