Kit Harington Bio

Kit Harington was born in London on December 26th, 1986. His playwright’s mother was Deborah Jane. His family was well off because of his father, Sir David Harington, 15th Baronet. Kit comes from a line of British monarchs. One of his ancestors went back to King Charles II. Kit’s family tree includes members who participated in the infamous ‘Gunpowder Plot.’ His mother’s family, he claims, was involved in plotting the murder of King James I of England, Ireland, and Scotland. Kit’s father’s family is distantly linked to James I, which is an interesting fact.

Kit went to a school called “Southfield Elementary.” His first eleven years were spent in London, but then he and his family made the move to Worcester. Kit didn’t find out he was named Christopher until he was 11 years old. He always had a passion for reporting and writing. He has always enjoyed performing, but he has never really contemplated a career in the theater. On the other hand, he and his mom frequently watched plays together.

The play “Waiting for Godot” he saw while attending “Chantry High School” inspired him to pursue a career in acting. He made the decision to become an actor when he was 14 years old. Throughout high school, he was a fixture on the stage. After finishing high school, he chose to further his acting education by taking several classes. After that, he enrolled at London’s illustrious ‘Royal Central School of Speech and Drama,’ from which he eventually graduated in 2008. Kit Harington is a well-known English actor for his portrayal of Jon Snow in the ‘Game of Thrones HBO series.

When he was 14 years old, he saw a live performance of the classic play “Waiting for Godot,” which inspired him to pursue a career in theater. Soon after, he settled on a career in acting. After finishing high school, Kit attended the prestigious “Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.”

He got involved in the theater after completing theatre school. For his work in the drama “War Horse,” he was awarded two “Olivier” prizes. Because of this, he decided to make acting his career. He first appeared on TV in 2011 in the fantasy drama series “Game of Thrones,” which aired on “HBO.” He became famous all around the world thanks to his role as “Jon Snow” in the series. After his breakout appearance on “Game of Thrones,” Kit went on to star in a string of critically acclaimed films. Testament of Youth, Seventh Son, and Brimstone are three of his most acclaimed films. In the sequel to “How to Train Your Dragon,” he provides the voice of a pivotal character.

Kit was one of the fortunate young actors whose period of struggle was relatively brief. After finishing acting training, he immediately began performing in major stage productions. Posh, produced at the Royal Court Theatre, was one of his earlier plays. He had previously starred in “War Horse” while still a student at an acting academy. Two “Olivier Awards” were given to him for his performance in the play.

He was still very inexperienced as a screen actor, yet he tried out for a part in the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.” Kit beat out hundreds of other actors from throughout the country to land the role. His first major role was a watershed moment in his professional life. Kit played the role of Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Ned Stark, in the first season of the HBO series that premiered in 2011. Kit underwent a number of transformations throughout the show. Initially, “Jon” was portrayed as a naive but courageous young child, but he grew into a reliable leader in combat.

The third season opening saw ‘Jon’ firmly established as a popular favorite. Kit’s stellar performance throughout the series catapulted him to fame on a global scale. Kit has received a number of accolades for his work as “Jon Snow” throughout the years. Kit, basking in his great international popularity, was inundated with requests to appear in films. His first feature, the supernatural horror flick Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, was released in 2012. He has the starring part as Vincent in the movie. Nonetheless, the picture failed at the box office and among critics.

Kit spent the subsequent year focusing on his role as “Jon Snow” in “Game of Thrones” after the failure of his first film. Kit had a banner year in 2014, making appearances in four different movies. His first movie of 2014, named “Pompeii,” was a historical flop. He was one of the film’s main protagonists. Critics were divided on the film because of its historical inaccuracies and poor special effects, yet some gave it positive reviews nonetheless.

Afterward, in the sequel to “How to Train Your Dragon,” Kit provided the voice for the character “Eret.” The film was well-received by critics and audiences alike. Following that, Kit starred as “Roland Leighton” in the war drama “Testament of Youth.” The film received rave reviews from critics but was bombed at the box office. Kit’s final film of 2014 was the critically panned yet commercially successful fantasy epic Seventh Son. Kit was one of the two main characters in the 2015 “HBO” sports drama 7 Days in Hell.

Kit also had a role in the British spy drama “Spooks: The Better Good,” released the same year. Critics largely praised the film. The film’s success at the box office was mirrored by widespread acclaim for Kit’s performance. Kit played a supporting character named “Samuel” in the 2016 Western thriller “Brimstone.” The movie was a critical and financial smash.

The historic “Gunpowder Plot” of 1605 in London was the inspiration for the 2017 miniseries “Gunpowder,” on which Kit served as an executive producer. He played the role of ‘Robert Catesby’ in the film. Kit was in the critically panned 2018 film “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.” Kit has also been involved in theater for many years, making appearances in productions like “The Vote,” “Posh,” and “True West.” Both the Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana perfume, “The One,” feature Kit as their face.
