Kipling Christian Moore is a country music singer and songwriter from the United States who is now signed to MCA Nashville. Moore was born on April 2, 1980. He has recorded a total of five studio albums for the label and has charted a total of twelve entries on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, including the number-one single “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” and four additional top-ten successes. Other artists, such as Frankie Ballard, Thompson Square, and James Wesley, have recorded songs that he has written.
Kip Moore is the son of Bonnie (Mann) and Stan Moore, and he was born in Tifton, Georgia. There are a total of two brothers and three sisters in his family. Their father passed away in September 2011, just a few months before Moore released his first album as a solo artist. While he was a student at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama, he taught himself how to play the guitar, and he gave his first performance in front of an audience at a Mellow Mushroom restaurant in Valdosta, Georgia.
After graduating from college, he traveled to Hawaii, where he lived in a “little hut” and became interested in trekking and surfing. In 2004, he made the move to Nashville, Tennessee, where he received assistance in signing a publishing agreement from songwriter and producer Brett James. Before he signed a record deal with MCA Nashville, he resided in Nashville for a period of eight years. His first single, titled “Mary Was the Marrying Kind” reached its highest position on the Billboard country singles charts at number 45.
“Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” was his second single, and it was released on September 27, 2011. After the release of the song in March 2012, he released his debut studio album titled Up All Night in April of the same year. Moore contributed to the writing of every song on the album, while Brett James was responsible for producing it. After another month, “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” climbed all the way to the top of the country charts on Billboard.
The album’s second single, “Beer Money,” was followed by the album’s first single, “Hey Pretty Girl.” These songs also made it into the Top 5 of the country charts. Both in 2012 and 2013, Up All Night was the debut country album by a male country musician that achieved the highest level of commercial success. “All the Way” and “Let’s Fight” were both co-written by Moore for Thompson Square’s self-titled debut album, which was released in February of 2011. “Let’s Fight” was the band’s first single, while “All the Way” was the band’s second single.
Additionally, he was a co-writer for the single “Walking Contradiction” that James Wesley released in 2012. Additionally, he was a co-writer for the song “Cigarette” that Frankie Ballard released in 2016. Moore revealed the title of his fifth single “Young Love” in October 2013. In March of 2014, it peaked at position number 22 on the Country Airplay chart.
After it failed to meet expectations, the next single, “Dirt Road,” was released, but it was not successful enough to crack the top 40. Following this, Moore made the decision to “chuck” his second album and start working on fresh material. Moore then issued “I’m to Blame” as the lead single to his album Wild Ones, which was published in 2015. Kip issued his debut extended play (EP), named Underground, the following year. The EP featured versions of the songs “My Kind” and “Midnight Slowdance” performed acoustically.
Moore released “More Girls Like You” as the lead single from an album that had not yet been named at the time of the single’s release on February 10, 2017. Moore made the announcement on June 21, 2017, that the album will be titled Slowheart and that it would be released on September 8, 2017.
Moore published his second extended play (EP) on November 16, 2018, under the title Room to Spare: The Acoustic Sessions. In advance of the extended play (EP), the following three singles were made available for purchase: “Tennessee Boy,” an acoustic rendition of “Plead the Fifth,” and “It Ain’t California.” Acoustic versions of seven songs are included in this extended play (EP).
In May of 2019, Moore declared on social media that record number four was completed, with the hashtag “That’s a wrap.” Moore revealed on June 15 that he was testing mixes for his future record, which was an indication that the record may be released sometime in 2019, despite the fact that no official release date had been established. Moore surprised fans by releasing the much-anticipated lead track to his new album, which does not yet have a name, on August 9, 2019. Moore penned the song “She’s Mine” well over a decade ago, but he didn’t get around to releasing it until 2019.
Moore announced the release of the lead single, “Wild World,” off his highly anticipated fourth studio album on March 27, 2020. Moore gave an interview to Billboard later on that same day, discussing his newest album and its release. The album was released on May 29, 2020, and it has a total of thirteen tracks (of which Moore contributed to the writing of twelve of those tunes). On April 17, 2020, an additional preview song titled “Southpaw” was released
Moore issued a re-recorded version of “Crazy One More Time” in January 2022. The song had previously been included as a track on the album Up All Night. On January 24, 2022, the updated version was distributed to country radio stations. Moore presented the world with the title track and lead single “Damn Love” from his fifth studio album on February 24, 2023. On April 28, 2023, the album with the same name was made available for purchase. On March 24, 2023, the second single from the album, titled “Kinda Bar,” was made available to the public.
Carpentry, surfing, rock climbing, and hiking are some of Moore’s favorite things to do in his spare time. Moore is a co-manager of a lodging facility in Rogers, Kentucky, that caters to people who enjoy being outside. Moore has never been in a relationship and does not have any children of his own. He made the following statement: “…it’s not like I’m out doing really wild stuff,” The thing is, I’ve been putting so much of my attention and energy into the music lately that even when I’m not on the road, I’m always back in the studio composing and creating.
“Over the course of my entire life, I’ve had a boyfriend maybe three or four times. I am the type of person that enjoys socializing with others every once in a while, but I also crave a great deal of free time and time spent alone myself. It does appear that a lot of men my age who work in this industry are getting married, but I think I’ll end up being the industry’s lone remaining bachelor!” Moore is someone who keeps his personal life to himself. “I don’t owe anybody anything to tell them about my personal life, and that’s how I’ve always felt. I have no obligation to do so.” It’s means of safeguarding the people around me, because the second I say something, people will start asking questions like crazy.
