It was on September 30th, 1986 in the city of Seoul, South Korea that he was born. In his family, he was the elder of his two younger brothers and sisters. When he was six years old, his family uprooted and moved to Auckland in the country of New Zealand. He was able to improve his English skills there before moving to Los Angeles, California, with his family two years later. His parents manage a restaurant. When Lee was in middle school, he had an interest in acting and took part in a number of plays that the school put on.
