Juju Chan Bio

Juju Chan was born in Hong Kong, a Chinese territory that is part of the United Kingdom. It was when she was three years old that her family moved to the United States, where she eventually settled in the city of San Francisco. When she was 10 years old, she began studying martial arts with a local instructor. She began training in judo because it was the closest school at the time, then went on to learn Shotokan karate, wushu, Hung Ga, Wing Chun, ITF Taekwondo, nunchaku, and muay Thai, among other kinds of martial arts.

She is currently pursuing a degree in psychology. In addition to earning a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco, Chan also earned minors in mathematics and dance, all of which were awarded a distinction. A master’s degree in fine arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts followed, and she is now based in Los Angeles. On October 1, 2019, in Los Angeles, California, Chan married the marriage with regular collaborator Antony Szeto, who was also present.

Chan began studying martial arts at a young age, and she has maintained a strong interest in the discipline throughout her adult life. Starting when she was a teenager, she began working in the modeling industry. Following the release of her debut album in 2011, she went on to receive her master’s degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, after which she began working in the film industry. Because of her success as a member of the Hong Kong Taekwondo Team, where she competed and earned medals in international competitions, as well as her victory in the Thailand boxing tournament, she began landing more action-oriented parts on television and in films.


Her appearance as Silver Dart Shi in the Netflix original film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny garnered him more global recognition than his previous roles (2016). She then had a cameo appearance as Zan in Wu Assassins, which was broadcast on Netflix (2019). Long-form storytelling includes a critical examination of the controversial “Remain in Mexico” immigration policy, as seen through the eyes of one pregnant woman and her family, who were among the 60,000 asylum seekers who camped beside the Rio Grande for months during the height of the crisis. It is the culmination of a series of pieces she has written on LGBTQ+ themes for several magazines, including the award-winning story “Trans and Targeted,” which analyses violence against transgender women of color across the country.

Chang received a GLAAD Media Award in recognition of her reporting on Matthew Shepard’s murder and the legacy his parents have constructed in his memory. The COVID-19 epidemic was one of Chang’s most important breaking news stories for ABC News throughout his career, and he provided extensive coverage of the science behind it, as well as coverage of its financial and social implications, racial inequities, and the impact on hospital intensive care units and critical staff. Reidy, president and CEO of The Paley Center for Media, puts it, “as our country continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that we reflect on this experience and evaluate how the media’s role in public health might continue to evolve.
