Jon Seda Bio

Jonathan Seda is a well-known American actor who was born on October 14, 1970. Seda was an amateur boxer who tried out for a part in the boxing movie Gladiator, which was released in 1992 and received the role. In the film Selena, he co-starred with Jennifer Lopez as Chris Pérez, and in The Pacific, directed by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, he portrayed John Basilone, a United States Marine who was awarded the Medal of Honor. On television, he portrayed Detective Antonio Dawson on NBC’s Chicago P.D. and Paul Falsone on NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street. Both of these roles were for the network. Seda was reared in Clifton, New Jersey, despite the fact that she was born in Manhattan to parents of Puerto Rican descent. After Seda graduated from Clifton High School he was persuaded by two friends that he should start boxing, and so he started training at a gym.

He competed in the New Jersey Golden Gloves tournament and quickly rose to the position of runner-up after boxing in a number of New Jersey gyms. In his career as an amateur boxer, Seda had a record of 21 victories and a single defeat. Gladiator, a film about a boxing match, was where Seda made his acting debut. In that film, he portrayed the character of Romano, a Cuban fighter. Since then, he has had roles in a number of films and television programs. Seda was nominated for a Spirit Award in the category of Best Male Lead in 1995 for his performance in the film I Like It Like That, in which he co-starred with Rita Moreno and Lauren Vélez. His performance as Blue in the film The Sunchaser, in which he starred alongside actor Woody Harrelson, earned him a nomination for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in the year 1996.

When he played Chris Pérez with Jennifer Lopez in Selena, a film based on the actual story of the Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, who was slain on her way to mainstream popularity, Seda became well recognized to the Hispanic cinema audience. Selena was a film based on the true story of the Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, who was murdered on her way to mainstream stardom. In the role of Selena’s spouse, Seda was cast. It was in the film King Rikki, which was released in 2002 and was a retelling of Shakespeare’s Richard III set in East Los Angeles, that he made his debut as a starring man on the big screen.

In addition to making a number of appearances on television, Seda has also been seen in more than two dozen movies, including the role of Roberto in Bad Boys II. Aside from Homicide, he has had prominent appearances in Oz as Dino Ortolani, in Third Watch as Matty Caffey, in Homicide’s crossover with Law & Order as Paul Falsone, in House, and in CSI: Miami. In the World War II miniseries on HBO called The Pacific, which premiered on March 14, 2010, he plays the role of Marine John Basilone. This role makes him one of the three main protagonists. In 2007, Seda had a cameo appearance in Ludacris’ song “Runaway Love” as an abusive and drunken stepfather. In the same year, he featured as a guest star in an episode of the television show Burn Notice.

In 2012, Seda started playing Detective Antonio Dawson in Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise, first appearing in Chicago Fire in a recurring role and then, in 2014, as part of the main cast of the spin-off series Chicago P.D. Seda’s first appearance as Detective Antonio Dawson was in the pilot episode of Chicago Fire. In 2017, Seda continued playing his part in another spin-off titled Chicago Justice, which ended up being canceled after only airing for one season. His daughter Haley appeared as a special guest on Chicago P.D. playing the role of an important witness in a bombing case. In July 2017, it was revealed that Seda will be returning to the Chicago P.D. after the conclusion of the Chicago Justice television series. On April 19, 2019, it was announced that NBC/Wolf Entertainment executives notified Seda that they would not be extending his contract, which resulted in his quitting the series soon after the completion of six seasons of filming.

In the year 2020, Seda was selected to play the main part of Dr. Benjamine Glass in the pilot episode of the apocalyptic drama series La Brea, which was produced by NBC and written by David Appelbaum. Because the production of the pilot was being hampered by the COVID-19 outbreak, NBC let Seda’s contract to expire along with that of the majority of the other cast members in the pilot. However, in January 2021, the pilot was given the go-light to go straight into production, and Seda was brought back to the project with his role being rewritten as Dr. Sam Velez.

The character Nelson Hidalgo, a politically connected property developer from Dallas who assists with the relief operations in post-Katrina New Orleans, was portrayed by Seda in the second through fourth seasons of Treme. He had an appearance in the film Larry Crowne, in which Tom Hanks acted, as well as co-wrote and directed the film. In addition, Hanks was an executive producer on the film The Pacific, in which Seda had a leading role. In the action film Bullet to the Head, which was directed by Walter Hill and released in 2013, Seda featured with Sylvester Stallone, Christian Slater, and Jason Momoa.

The Chicago Tribune reports that listing agent Stefania Campo and her husband, Frank, placed Seda’s house on the market at the beginning of this month. The property has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and four and a half parking spaces. The actor and his family were the initial buyers of the home in 2016, paying a total of $1.45 million for it. In addition, the listing includes a comprehensive description of the property, which reads as follows: “When entering you can’t help but notice the one-of-a-kind architecturally significant 2-story open entry. As your eyes trail up to the soaring ceiling, you will notice the beautiful, detailed banister that borders the upper landing and grand staircase.”

The description continues, taking you around the home and pointing out all of its wonderful attributes, saying things like, “The large living room and dining room both have a number of oversized windows that let in an abundance of natural light.” The cozy atmosphere created by the stunning fireplace, which adds a touch of class to the room, is perfect for unwinding after a long day. According to the official description, the house has a total living space of 5,000 square feet, was constructed in 2007, has three levels and a basement, and has an impressive collection of facilities like a sauna, roof deck, two-car garage, and even an indoor pool.
